Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Climate

Investigators looking into allegations of bullying need to be educated about the cumulative nature of abusive workplace behavior. As isolated acts of aggression, each incident might be considered only mildly offensive or even tolerable, but the escalation over time as well as the slow-burn of bullying are important to be able identify such patterns. For this reason, rather than focusing on the traditional employee-relations model of investigating specific complaints, organizations should monitor departments or teams for ongoing personnel issues, retention problems, increased pattern of FMLA
usage and persistent interpersonal problems, and conduct proactive climate assessments to determine if there is a pattern of abusive conduct.

MetLife = unchecked aggression and bullying. Envy the contingent workers not required to go meetings where EVPs humiliate other EVPs and SVPs, SVPs badmouth VPs, VPs humiliate their team members. If anyone reads this bc they are thinking about applying to Met, please please stay away and keep your peace. Bad bad aura here.

@8dy+1jv8w2st8 a few definitely do because I've been in those meetings. But the people that do actually care are also burned out like the rest of us. The problem is the people that make decisions don't care and don't lurk on this site. Maybe if they read this page instead of inflating MyVoice they could make a difference.

@8dy Legal discusses this site in meetings

Does HR hang out here as part of their jobs? meetings about how they are doing with this site?

I believe that HR does hang out here, including CHRO, but it is not part of their jobs.

They either can't help themselves, or a few might want to see what employees really think in spite of all the my voice surveys and pulses that they conduct. A few of them probably don't believe the surveys either.

I doubt they talk about this site in meetings, though that would be comical, if true.

@8a3 that's hilarious. It just shows how useless their roles really are.

@6qr+1jv8w2st8 my guess is that it's all window dressing, so it looks like the recycled HR lady did something "innovative". Have we seen or heard from her all of this year? Met is not capable of changing course. The inept will continue to be rubber stamped "successful" by their superiors. Shame on them.

"But instead, the stupid and lazy deserve to be coddled and paid."

Perhaps this is ending. Note the sudden mid-year goal conversations, and new mandatory "New Frontier" goal.

Could be a pre-cursor to pushing people out the door. (Anyone else have a clue what this new directive is about? Could just be new HR person having to do something to show she's there. Hard to say.

"Too much red. The co is drowning in poor decisions."

Yes, imagine if they listened to our feedback over the YEARS to eliminate the inept employees. Millions of dollars in savings could have been realized. But instead, the stupid and lazy deserve to be coddled and paid. MetLife deserves all the red they are in now.

@691+1jv8w2st we also need said employees to stop begging for Center Stage recognition, for just doing their routine job that they were hired for. Weird culture.

Need a policy to tax non-us citizens working in the US or working offshore for a US business.

Too much red. The co is drowning in poor decisions.

@1n3+1jv8w2st8 I think the point is no matter what your “non-American” boss says, you’ll find fault with it. Clearly I hit a nerve.

My non American born ignorant AVP boss here in the US wishes us all "a nice long weekend". No clue what Memorial Day is truly about. This IS the new MetLife, loud and clear.

Met’s shrinking U.S. workforce, how much more miserable can we be? Miss old MetLife. Don’t recognize this s%#^*ty cesspool. Shoulda gotten out during the great resignation.

@yn+1jv8w2st8 Surprisingly, some people there plan to stay long-term. They entered through the MTU program and accepted a low base salary. They believe they are advancing because their titles change periodically, accompanied by a maximum 10% salary increase, which isn't substantial considering their starting point. It's amusing to see what Senior and Lead engineers are willing to accept at the Cary campus. I left and now make double the amount at made at GTO. I'm mad at myself for not leaving sooner.

Insurance is low pay low caliber execs. Third tier execs who don’t care about the brand and culture. If the toxic environment surprises you, you did not do sufficient due diligence on MetLife. Everyone I know is at Met because they were unemployed, they were desperate, they came from a differently toxic workplace place.

UST RRI is full of degrading bullies at the leadership level. MetLife work atmosphere is the worst it has ever been. I would never encourage friends to work here. The only new hires, those who are yet aware of this situation, are in India. Goodbye US workforce. Abused and sent to the curb.

MetLife fires targets of aggression and promotes abusive people. They should have their paid Glassdoor robots disclose this so sadists can apply to join.

Bullying is not illegal; therefore MetLife doesn't care. I've witnessed 2 employees lodge bullying complaints (with proof) against their AVP manager. 6 months later, both employees' positions were conveniently eliminated. 6 months later, that AVP was promoted to VP, hired externally, and the bullying continues to this day.
