What is latest with SBT STONEHOUSE

How many people given different roles and how many are being made redundant. What kind of roles are being offered. Office staff safe as always?

”Honestly a reduction in salary are they taking the pi-s ?”
That is true. I would also bet that any manager who is moved does not get a salary reduction.

a few positions being offered but with a reduction of salary, and you should be gratefull for that offer.
obviously a reduction as SLB dont do salary increases, but again be grateful...positive.. even optimistic because when things improve all of us that are left will be at the front of the que for that long overdue merit increase blah blah blahhhhhhhh

Names were never mentioned. It’s a simple case of - if the cap fits. Before trying to defend some of the appalling behaviour in SBT, please take a moment to consider those who did suffer. As for the post questioning why did people stay? Then ask yourself what are the options, leave and suffer potential financial hardship, put up and shut up and continue to suffer or complain. Unlike SLB try a little empathy.

My two cents, keep your posts kosher and they’ll stick. Layoff.com does not pick any sides, but any post that pinpoints to a specific person is gonna get deleted for sure, because posting PII is not allowed here. I think foul language and cyber-bullying are not allowed either.

Yes, and in doing so it has changed the balance of the thread. Whose side is The Layoff on?

Cyber bullying is worse. It’s also an illegal act.

Perhaps say this to the people you are referring too even bullying while you hide behind your keyboards.

Maybe you have some bitterness to SLB because you no longer work there, and it was obviously not your choice to leave…… why was that if things were as bad as you say they were ?

Nissan announce the opening of a new Battery Plant in the UK for their cars. Schlumberger announce the closure of a Battery Plant in the UK. To quote Reuters "SUNDERLAND, England, July 1 (Reuters) - Nissan Motor Co (7201.T) bet on Britain to supercharge its European electric future on Thursday, pledging $1.4 billion with its Chinese partner to build a giant battery plant that will power 100,000 vehicles a year including a new crossover model."

Now what does this tell us about the future for Big Blue ? just thought it was a coincidence or it could be signal for the future. I do believe however this could well have been a missed opportunity for SLB and SBT, the world is changing and only those companies who change with it will have a future. Or perhaps the posts below are correct, management that was useless and SLB perhaps had no choice but to close SBT, a lack of investment and planning and a poor performance finally ki---d the Battery Plant. Just speculating.

To the mo--ns who will only moan and do nothing I have a breaking news for you. ETHICS LINE is not the same as the local HR. I left during 2016 redundancies and have been happy since then. No longer had to deal with the person who I heard is out on touch.

"Have you considered leaving?", or something along those lines was a comment made from a previous HR employee to a very good person that was receiving the full works from the SBT management and micro minion management at the time.
this was a good 5 years ago yet here we are still discussing very recent examples of the same type of problems.

You have not read carefully. There were many reports to HR and there was an unwillingness to deal with the matters. Remember it was an HR employee that refer to a "pack of wolves". When you have a group of people rehearsed by a manager, it is very difficult to furnish proof. Everything is not always fluffy rabbits and sprinkling stardust.

How many SBT people losing their jobs to China? Anyone from office affected? It always amazed me before I was made redundant on how easily alternate positions open up for office people who just pretend to work and do nothing really.

The last post is absolutely true the problems in building B were reported but Schlumberger do not do anything fast also the last post was spot on individuals were protected by two jumped up managers which are no longer in Stonehouse but nothing changes everyone knows what goes on and nothing gets done, poor management and the HR is even worse.

Many people did report the shenanigans but HR did nothing. Also the wolf pack were supported by one manager and his side kick who was kicked into touch. You cannot win against these odds. You clearly know nothing or are a Cheerleader.

Reply to the post regarding the pack circling bldg A for jobs…..
Available roles are being offered due to a probable
short lived increase in production but queen bee is not interested because SDRM manufacturing does not involve bullying.
Over the past 2-3 years a much needed overhaul of the management structure in SDRM has done the place the world of good and wiped out any similar culture that was present before the relocation of the former MFG manager and his 2 crony product line managers, plus a toxic supervisor or 2, all of which played a part in the downfall of a number of very good people that were sent to SBT from SDRM….literally being released to a pack of wolves.

Baffles me that with almost yearly redundancy processes someone with her record and reputation still remains.

The Queen Bee
Very interesting qoute but a very true one years of bullying once leader of the so called pack who did actually roam building B looking for their next victim just so they could make themselves look above average not sure if this still goes on but certainly did a few years ago.

The last post puts in mind a quote from Moby Di-k as a boat is lowered into the waters a swarm of hungry sharks circle the crew, in a similar way that 'I also heard that the pack are circling building A for jobs.'

Yet the voice spake true; for scarce had he pushed from the ship, when numbers of sharks, seemingly rising from out the dark waters beneath the hull, maliciously snapped at the blades of the oars, every time they dipped in the water; and in this way accompanied the boat with their bites. It is a thing not uncommonly happening to the whale-boats in those swarming seas; the sharks at times apparently following them in the same prescient way that vultures hover over the banners of marching regiments in the east.

All of the last post is true and is probably only half the story. I can also confirm that HR did refer to the cohorts there as the 'wolf pack'. Staff were bullied out of jobs if they showed any competence {which was not difficult}) . People are still being victimised now. I also heard that the pack are circling building A for jobs.
HR received many, many complaints over the years which never seemed to get anywhere (brush, mat, sweep, under) - incompetent or unwilling I know not.

"So what's the full story with questionable ethics?" I joined SBT in 2005 and at that time it was probably and still is in all probability one of the best jobs I ever had. It was fun, there was a great feeling of working as a team, the management and supervisors treated the shop floor in my opinion well. We worked hard and gave it our best. But that management team left over time and a new group took over. A group who treated the shop floor as a small kingdom as if it was their domain. Without any respect for the workforce. It would be wrong to blame everyone and it is wrong to blame HR. HR powers are limited that I do know from conversations I had with HR. What happened is the Wolf Pack took over, it consisted of two managers - one left the other was kicked into touch { a pun for those who get the joke} a certain team leader who thought she was the Queen Bee and one member of the office staff. The wolf pack was not my term but in fact it was HR. They felt they could treat all others in SBT like their own personal serfs - bulling was rife along with victimisation it was an awful place to work. What was once the one of the best jobs I had turned in time into one of the worse jobs I every had. The union was called upon and so was HR but the mistreatment of many of those on the shop floor continued. Never mind he who laughs last will laugh the longest as for me after I left I found new life and have never looked back. Shame really how a few can spoil for the many and give a place such a terrible reputation.

Typical carrot being dangled with the offer of jobs but very little available, and the roles on offer don’t appear to be wanted by a number of the at risk individuals.

One day the full story will be revealed and the Ethics Line will be in mad panic. As for jobs I would imagine that there will be a few shopfloor roles but the office staff and manager will be OK. Just a guess from past experience.
