Anyone hearing rumors about a January 18th Layoff?

what department are you that you have to clear your calendar
What do you mean? The volume of work expected? Are you Cigna or MA? I would ask the team but I won't so that this site can remain the anonymous safe haven for free speech it is!
Was told late this evening to clear the calendars for the next two days, so we know what that means. Turmoil is an understatement with these teams that are expected to deliver. No settling down until after February and March cuts. Good Luck through all the unrest.
The guy got his questioned answered about being betrayed for jobs being sold off. He talks about it in the town hall thread from last month.
Another subject. Anyone know the response from the last town hall where the gentleman actually got to voice he felt deceived.
was your email about USMFOT?
Post ID: @7yqs+1qukoZTY
The one i mentioned in this post was in effective this week (sent last week so it's already in effect.
The email about the reorg said it was effective as of 1/18 which was very odd, usually things are effective immediately in these.
basically, the tech reorg thing sounds like its prior to 1/18.. but someone who claims they're a director of tech that 1/18 layoffs are happening, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
So basically we have no idea who will be impacted on 1/18, if anyone at all? This is exhausting.
the email sent last week said it was in effect the week the email was sent. so I think if your team was impacted, you would've known by now? at least for tech
it doesn't really say who gets affected, but org wise some things are being consolidated as 1. For ex. x, y, z are tightly coupled so they end up being 1 entitiy? something like that. I'm going to read it again and try to make more sense of it. theres just a lot of orgs im unfamiliar with so cant speak. But I think I read pharmacy integration being unaffected.
Are they laying off software engineers? Or just reorganizing all the teams?
I actually got the email, didn't notice it until today. Don't understand most of it but looks like they're consolidating a lot of org.
Are they eliminating directors and managers in Core Tech?
Interesting week, as MA leadership is in Nashville.
Are any case managers on the chopping block for 1/18?
Well, this is the week of the 18th. Lets keep this thread updated as info rolls in.
I am in one of the technology areas and there are eleven “Directors”. They are job eliminating those that actually deliver the work, so it’s only a matter of time before they’re only left with said “Directors” that aren’t capable of doing the job, just dictating what they need done and by when. The work hasn’t lessened, the rush is still on. We now don’t have the manpower to do the work - it no longer matters. I recall previously, it took someone leaving to become a Director, and those opportunities were slim, at best. Now, when you have eleven in one small organization, I’d say we’re extremely top heavy and it’ll only be a matter of time before that ship sinks. Unfortunately, so many good people with extensive knowledge of our systems are finding opportunities elsewhere, so that will make the days ahead even tougher. Definitely sad times.
As a former HealthSpring employee, from what I remember, a lot of upper management resigned/retired. I wasn’t aware of many layoffs with staff.
was there any info on pharmacy tech in the email?
Denial... I agree. I have heard that even if HCSC buys us nothing will change... that it took 5 years to even get a cigna email address... do any former healthspring employees want to weigh in? Were there layoffs with that? How did consolidations occur? Were employees laid off? And... why is no one in MA talking about this? You can't hide under the covers and wish it away sorry to say.
Wish they would go ahead and lay-off some MA folks. Most MA folks are very in denial about what’s happening, and need to be shook up. Also, I wouldn’t be sad if I got laid off.
“summary of reorg?”
It’s way too big.
Can you share the email?
No way.
1/18 is happening and it's non-tech, non-medicare as well.
summary of reorg?
Can you share the email?
oh and I am not sure on the MA piece of it unfortunately. this seems like more internal tech teams reorg
“was the org announcement via email or manager? I'm in tech but havent heard anything yet”
Via email at 4:30est regarding digital tech solutions, digital engineering, pm teams etc. It’s a very lengthy email and I find it concerning it’s such a major reorg on that 1/18 date. I don’t recognize any of the names though since I’m under d&a so I’m unsure why I got this in the first place.
Impacting MA or Cigna non-MA or both?
my guess is director of tech services, most likely only higher ups know about it currently
What is DTS?
“was the org announcement via email or manager? I'm in tech but havent heard anything yet”
A coworker forwarded it to me this morning.
It appears to be DTS specific, but it is definitely alot of movement.
someone posted earlier but looks like it got deleted, someone in cigna posted on linkedin how their whole team got laid off 2 days before christmas. Looks like he was in tech but working on an old tech stack (cobol). looks like they're just doing layoffs outside of these big dates like 1/18, 2/28.
was the org announcement via email or manager? I'm in tech but havent heard anything yet
Yes, pay day is this week and not the week of Jan 18th.
We just received an Organizational Announcement about a pretty big re-org that is effective Jan 18. Lots of restructuring and moving to new leadership.
I’m now convinced that the Jan 18 layoff rumors are true. Looks like it will impact tech workers.
so is the 18th week not payday week? im a contractor so i get paid by my contract company possibly at different interval.
I was in one of the previous waves. My pay periods with severance are different now, so I don't know what the pay timeline is at this point. Layoffs always happen on the Thursday that isn't a pay week. If you have a 1 on 1 with your manager on a Thursday that isn't a pay week, I'd recommend asking to reschedule to see what they say. If they won't move it, especially if they normally are flexible, it'll allow you to process it. I will say, they do a good job with severance and will take care of you. It's a band aid, but you'll have plenty of time to get something else. You'll also probably have the chance to double dip on pay.
Supposedly a director in tech says 1/18, the other date people mentioned was 2/28
