Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

I would not recommend working here to my worst enemy

First of all, I was on a team that didn't appreciate me or value my input. I had to deal with tons of microaggressions every day as well as constant gaslighting. Don't even get me started on micromanaging. It took me less than a year to leave for greener pastures. If you are considering joining Metlife, don't. That's the best advice I can give you.

Wow! I guess I dodged a bullet. The move would have been like going from the frying pan to the fire. Interviewed with MetLife several years ago for a level 1 management position. I am still at another insurance company I was trying to exit back then which is just as bad as this company. I guess that proves it su-ks to work at any insurance company these days.

@7thi+1riYWP68 Spot on, coupled with the deplorable pay raises and management believes employees are still motivated to move mountains.

They keep taking people and dramatically changing their jobs then criticizing them for not being experts at the new version of their jobs.

....old management ideals.
....out of touch with latest business shifts.
....aggressive, bully management
... not leveraging tech

we are not sitting in an office due 40 years. either they change or they will be lost as more and more leave for a true work life balance.

Can confirm. By far the worst place I've ever worked. Run as fast and far as you can from MetLife, it's a career death trap.

Dealt with constantly being pushed to do things beyond my title and role. Suffered a mental breakdown directly caused by my manager being unsympathetic and forcing me to do way MORE work after I disclosed my struggles. Every time I took a vacation, I was expected to do the same amount of work in way shorter time before I left. When someone else took a vacation, I was expected to get a my work done before they left to accommodate their needs. Despite that, I did everything my manager demanded at the cost of my well being. Directly contributed to my team exceeding goals month after month.

My raise this year is most likely going to be the same as when I was doing fu-k all as a newbie. I'm done caring

Management has no clue on how to retain talent. Hey, that is an over expectation, when they can't even identify talent. Basics like using resources based on their capabilities/skills, experience etc. appear foreign. Thriving environment for incompetents, sycophants.....

It’s a toxic offshore shifting workforce. Even our Indian consultants are not happy working on the Met project which is causing high turnover in this group. No one is happy here. As a director for 2 years, I cannot wait to get out.
On top of it, with the big shift to India, I expect a wave of layoffs to hit sometime later this year. Hopefully I’m out before that happens.
