Hi rumor starting that Tampa office will be closed and operations moving to Charlotte. Anyone have any insight?

That's true that many companies are considering relocating or downsizing their offices due to COVID-19. https://starkmovers.com/atlanta-movers/ we decided to move from boston to atlanta too.
I can’t see the long term care portion relocating to North Carolina. We’re all working from home now but that do to COVID-19. We actively work in the field normally not tele visits.
Leadership team knows when the closures are but there in there bunkers hiding it from the rest of us.
When do you all think the closures will happen?
I bet the leadership team in Tampa knows the offices in Tampa are closing but hiding it from the employees just like they hid the last round of layoffs until the very last minute, even though I knew about it weeks before thanks to this board.
Okay, got it. I know what meeting you are referring to. That was legacy Centene (i.e. pre-Health Net) folks all befuddled over working at home.
@7onq+1a0tmAy6 Same marketing. Those big 'all hands' Zoom meetings that Dave Minifie used to have. One hour of how people were putting their home offices together when they realized they weren't returning soon. (At least based on LinkedIn, Minifie's still there, bless his heart.)
I lost several hours of my life that I could at the time really needed for work, and I'll never get back after being required by my direct VP (who was WellCare and also had her position eliminated) to attend, though I already knew my position was eliminated at the start of my long goodbye, and anything being discussed was irrelevant to me.
Hmmm, I'm not sure what Marketing Department you interacted with. I was in the CNC Marketing Dept and it was hardly that confusing. In fact, most people were already assigned laptops because they occassionally worked from home or travelled. Now I'm sure it was an adjustment for some, but it was hardly a novel concept. So, you must have been working with a different segment of Marketing than I was on.
@7nmm+1a0tmAy6 It was kind of comical to observe my counterparts in the late CNC marketing department try to adjust to remote work, which I had been doing for close to 2 years as part of a dispersed WellCare unit team, primarily WFH. One group meeting was taken up for a full hour with everyone reporting in on their home setup and how much trouble they were having with it!
Ken Burdick and WellCare management/shareholders picked the wrong company to be bought by. Had they held out less than a year, they could have weathered Covid a lot better than the giants, and the opportunities to acquire new technologies and lines of business would have been outstanding. Burdick could have built the company into a powerhouse. Hey, that is what could have been....
MFN will be like Sumner Redstone of Viacom/CBS–he'll be a dried up senile husk and still calling the shots.
I wonder if Kenny B was disappointed ;-)
Didn't know that Ken Burdick retired. He'll pop up again but I'm sure he has a restrictive covenant with shark teeth in it.
Please! The first tough round of layoffs after the Wellcare merger included telecommuters. We literally asked what the rationale was behind some of these people being let go and the response was they remote workers. Dinosaur is a good description.
Does anyone have an article or something that was posted online that points to CNC pulling their workers out of Tampa and moving them to NC?
I know for sure that they are consolidating real estate in Tampa. So yes, some buildings will collapse back into REN.
“And he wants everyone in the office. He's made that clear to the press.”
This CEO is a dinosaur. Get with the times, old man! Not even 2 months after the merger started, the pandemic hit. From my position at WellCare, I watched how we all did what we had to do (to transition to remote work). It felt like WC was able to do this more successfully than counterparts at Centene. Why? Because WC saw the benefit of telecommuting because so many were already WFH. I’d like this schmuck to defend why he thinks everyone needs to be in an office. Don’t GOOD leaders think outside the box? Better life work balance for your employees? Better morale. Not the all knowing, all mighty MN.
I bet Kenny Boy was forced out after being led to believe he’s next in line. However, MN seems like he will work until he’s 90 and keep driving the company into the ground. Ken did a decent job when the last CEO (Alec) left WellCare. I think Centene could do better in Ken’s hands but, MN wants allllll the money. Greedy b_st_rd!
My hope is the Tampa based people will be grandfathered in with the telecommuting policy, if the main offices are in St. Louis and NC. Otherwise, Centene is losing good talent (what’s left of it after these layoffs).
Speaking of " Ken Burdick retired in January 2021", do we know if he retired or was forced out?
When Wellcare was 1st sold it was rumored that Ken agreed because he was hoping the be inline to become the next CEO of Centene once that was up for grabs.
Ken Burdick retired in January 2021.
I'm sure it won't be long before my position is out. I am now working from home and have been since the pandemic. As our field case management department was k–led. We already lost two from my team. The closest office to me is over 80 miles
If you are located in the former WellCare offices in Ren Cen or nearby, or work from home as many at WC did from acquired companies such as UAM, consider yourself on a shortlist for layoffs and office closure. MFN wants everything either in STL or Charlotte unless absolutely required to maintain state plan operations. And he wants everyone in the office. He's made that clear to the press.
The space at RenCen is desirable for subleasing as many companies are moving to FL. The owners maybe even want it back as they can lease at a higher rate.
Anyone know if MFN is relocating to NC or has a second or third home there? That often goes behind a second location pick. And any succession plan or 'betting'? Betcha Ken Burdick is NOT in the running.
so are you for certain Tampa offices will close down? Does that mean WFH people from Tampa would be laid off as well? Anybody else can comment on the Tampa offices closing? Thank you.
NC will be the next location to run from. They will be piling on so much work there. It’s going to become another stress zone.
So sad that this CEO can’t see how much WellCare did for the Tampa Bay Area...and keep building on the good. No, let’s undo everything and move to f*cking North Carolina. What a bunch of mo–ns.
I diffidently figured that the September move date had something to do with NC moves.
I believe it, they are doing it to save money and keep control, and as part as the downsizing, Good Bye Tampa! This is what happen with merge companies and create monopolies like Centene, the most important part is for Mr. CEO got 58 millions in 2020 and is all about HIM, nobody else matter, not even the shareholders, eventually even the shares of this company will decrease in value and he knows, this will be his last attempt to accumulate money for his family and his future generations, the man is GREEDY, and not very talented, just ruthless!
I have heard this for months as well. Probably why they are delaying until "September." Likely true.
