Had layoffs on the manufacturing floor yesterday, mostly some old timers looking for a package.

@7fn they'll frame it based on salary and the savings from salary. So yes, while the older people typically make the higher salaries, they're not technically being targeted for their age.
That's all they have been doing for the past few years: getting rid of the older people because of what they make. What I can't understand is why they are allowed to target those over 50 with no issue from the government?
I doubt most experienced professionals are primarily seeking a severance package. After dedicating decades to this industry, they are likely more interested in securing their full retirement benefits than accepting a heavily taxed severance payout. The current state of the oil and gas industry is extremely difficult, and finding a new job won't be easy for anyone. Before judging these dedicated employees, consider how you would feel if, after a lifetime of service, your primary offer was a severance package where the tax implications significantly diminish its value.
I'm in the Woodlands and hadn't heard this. What types of roles?
Usually the only way I find out is to send an email and wait for the bounce back that "email could not be found."
My package was a $25 and a Big Mac.
lol one billlllllion dollar.. OK-drEvil
This old timer secured a $1.45M package.
