Am I the only one who feels this way? Not having to commute gave me back two hours of my life each day. Now I'm worried about readjusting once again when things go back to (relative) normal - I will miss those hours! Not to mention other small conveniences, like actually being able to get some peace and quiet while working.

September is brilliant. My husband is a physician, said it’s the best time to guarantee an outbreak. The hub areas are hot spots and will only increase. Dry air of fall/winter, mixed with poor ventilation for hours on in - despite sitting apart (even with mask), plus flu season = major spikes.
But hey.... it’s all about control.
We all may have to put our sailor suits on and go back to the good ship lollipop soon!

So tell me why people beed...I mean need to come back to the office? I bet you are one of those people who go to the office and spend time walking around the building to look busy and waste everyones time.
We beed to continue to return to the buildings as planned. The school district decisions should not play a large part in organizations plans. Differ et environments and precautions are in place.
The schools in Bloomington, IL announced today that they’ll start the school year with 100% remote learning.
District 87 said it will revaluate the remote learning plan in October to see if students can safely return to school. Unit 5 said it hopes to have a decision by October 1.
This will likely impact and extend State Farm’s re-entry plan since a good percentage of parents work for State Farm.
To the person asking if going back into the office in September is just a guess: do you not read those weekly updates that come out? Apparently you don’t. A small percentage went back into the buildings in July, and they said that in September is when they’re going to start bringing more people back into the buildings.

I can’t see going back at the start of the fall a good idea. Flu + covid in major cities is already worrying hospitals in terms of resources. Hubs sit in these hot zones.
I think permanent Work From Hell is more likely.

WFH is not going to stay. The Execs do not believe WFH is actually working because Claim volume is down since people aren’t on the road as much.
It’s not here to stay. Leadership has a strong bias to come back into the office. It’s the only way they know to work and will rationalize it (culture, training, collaboration). Oh... and by the way... lists of how people have answered the surveys are being broadly shared. If you did not volunteer to come back in, you are being judged differently.... specially for those in Bloomington and in leadership roles. And if you’ve responded that you or family have health concerns, they feel those numbers are over inflated. Be prepared to provide evidence.

single dumbest decision ever made at state farm.
A few years ago when the hubs were being built it was made clear to those who were wfh that they either had to move to a hub or leave. When management was questioned why, the answer was: a hub environment had been "proven" to be in the company's best interest. Looks like it's possible to wfh & do a good job after all.
Working from home just makes it easier for those corporate no nothings and rear end kissing public affairs people to show you how much they don't care about you. Can you say Adios to getting paid? But let's be honest we are all spending too much time watching Netflix anyways.

The decision to wfh won’t be made by “your boss.” It is made at executive level. Failure to return SF property results in forfeiture of all separation benefits and forces HR to decide whether to file theft charges. Good luck getting that next job....
I don't trust you working for home. You have too much personal information at hand and State Farm doesn't do enough to protect you from their employees.
Under the assumption that I only live once and the growing apathy within me I decided I’m going to go all or nothing on the farm. I’m giving my boss an ultimatum when the time comes. Either I work from home permanently or he can come and pick up my computer.
Working remote is best. It deletes the PC obvious good ol boy world. They will now have to compete more aggressively for the labor they want.

@3KME—the best part of those videos is a majority of them were filmed in their private offices...you know the ones with full walls and doors to separate them from the minions and their germs.
Over 200 medical experts agree that COVID-19 could be carried by cough droplets and travel up to 26 feet. Talking on the phone releases saliva droplets that can carry virus particles. People that are asymptomatic will pass a temperature check and go into work. A lot of the cubicles are open, and masks are not required while we are working in our open cubicles. Are they planning to put up at least plexiglass or other types of walls around our open cubicles?
What is State Farm thinking?? People of all ages that had no underlying conditions have died from this disease, but they want to roll the dice on this to see how it goes.
WFH should be allowed until at least a vaccine is widely available to the public.
Our claims segment managers were telling us our metrics were better with everyone at home and then once people started going back to the Bloomington office they changed their tune talking about bad numbers due to work from home; a complete 180. Then the disinfo campaign began on SFnet with the employee videos talking about how great it is to be back in the office. I’m in WA state, have 4.5 years at the farm under my belt split up over the last decade, started at the beginning of the Tempe hub in a temp office back in 2013, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to quit if I have to go back to the office. Recirculated air combined with no masks at your desk is just an illusion of safety for the mindless who the farm loves to employ en mass.
Like it or not, they are making employees come back to the miserable buildings starting in September.

"Leadership" is such a poor title for what is done now. Superintendents were leaders. Management is the appropriate title. Now they micromanage to the max based on numbers. Now they really are Team Managers and not leaders.
Working from home does not allow maximum micromanaging capabilities, which is what's desired in the current environment.
State Farm is like most other corporations. The executives and other leaders enjoy seeing their underlings shuffle into offices with blank expressions to serve under them. It boosts their egos. "These are my people". Plus it's much more difficult to conduct extramarital affairs with social distancing.
As soon as State Farm perceives dramatically reduced liability from having people return they will order it so.

Why doesn't State Farm let us WFH? Apparently we had better numbers over working in the office, everyone is less stressed and more productive. Got the memo that we sounded "friendlier" on the phone! Tipsord will save loads of money for State Farm not paying to lease offices out. Anyone who wouldn't know what to do with all the extra time being saved by the commute I feel bad for. Anyone that wants to come back into the office as soon as possible did not have a life outside the office in the first place - they would not know what to do if they had free time to themselves - very sad if ya ask me.
I'm glad I'm retired and don't have to worry about it. Keep working minions! We need the money.

I used to like my coworkers and would have never wanted to stay home.
Now everyone is miserable and takes it out on each other. So I miss no one, not really. But it is lonely. As an adult, much of your adult friendships come from work, and you lose that being at home 24/7,
A commute is a hassle but to tell ya the truth, even if you can use those 2 hours to your liking, those 2 hours were yours and yours alone, in car....enjoy your music, podcast, radio, audiobooks, thoughts to yourself.
On train, you get to people watch (which has pros and cons), read for two hours a day, play on FB, or just veg w/ or w/o your earbuds. You don't that downtime to yourself. But I guess you could use the time to take a walk.
I don't know if I could permanently live in a world where you dont see another human that isn't your fam member. My pal moved outta state and works from home and she lives alone. She hasn't made a friend, and I don't see how one older adult would, when you don't see each other every day and get to know each other slowly;
