Layoffs happening today in B2B marketing. Evernorth express scripts. Friend of mine just told me he/she got laid off today.

"Has anyone heard about any new layoffs coming down today 2/22/24?"

How about you just check one of the 4-5 threads made about that exact topic?...

In a staff meeting last week, Evernorth leader stated that there are layoffs normally every month and it just was more this October so that is why we heard about it. And that no layoffs in this division the remainder of 2023, but that we are spending more than we are earning, so it is just a matter of time. But… just do your job and the cream will rise to the top- ha ha - right!

My 2 cents- Considering portfolio funding is getting cut…. Teams could look a lot different in the first quarter of 2024 in Evernorth.

An executive either didn't see it coming or was too careless to close the door while on speakerphone in a conference call when it was announced. My comment is all I heard so I have no more info on it. I quickly retreated back to my space to look for jobs

"They will soon announce that they are closing entire locations. No mention of which ones but they will shut down end of this year"

Could you please clarify, and also how you were made aware (without revealing yourself)? Do you mean physical locations/sites, or whole departments?

"if every 2 weeks lay off is true than cigna is just shooting themselves in the foot. Expect productivity to go down, why would anyone work hard when they can just get cut in 2 weeks time. Theres a reason companies do a mass lay off and its so the remaining ones don't have to worry after the fact."

Productivity has already gone down. And Cigna would only be shutting itself in the foot if this information was widespread knowledge, which it is not. The average employee who doesn't visit this site or know someone who does/has would likely not have any idea about the 2-week cadence. The ONLY reason WE know this information is because an insider within the organization shared it with us. And someone who obviously has access to Manager Self-Service (i.e. a manager or someone in systems with access) where this information is located shared it with us.

Stick your head in the sand if you like, but others have questioned the accuracy of the information on this site only to find out later that it was in fact true.

For these future lay offs, are the people decided already or is it on a rolling basis?

"The schedule after end of february is hardly believable. No company would continuously lay off people every 2 weeks and expect morale/productivity to be high."

WRONG! Read the posts found here: https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1p38dqCC
According to one poster, the Manager self-service has a calendar that’s posted for all of the upcoming layoff dates.

Another poster later responded, "The calendar referenced is every two weeks. Always a Thursday. Gives dates of when you have to submit to HR the paperwork to lay off. All layoff notices are on Thursdays."

@7cpi+1oXsIf8q Unionizing should definitely happen. However, cigna is very clever with their use of contractors. I don't think they have the same rights as typical employees when it comes to that. Very easy to cut them out if they get a little bit too vocal. It's a tactic Amazon uses as well.

Such a sad day, and as the end of the year approaches only more layoffs to worry about. Honestly vial to do this staggered monthly approach. It's painful to watch your peers, (good hardworking , intelligent people that contribute everyday ) get let go because of POOR leadership. It could have been and still can be anyone of us. Prayers to all of us today and thru 2024.

Hate the phased layoff if it’s true. It like living in contestant fear , uncertainty and doubt. Have checked this website atleast 500 times since last 2 weeks. Feeling sorry for people who were let go. Hope they got good severance.

11/9 is confirmed as the next day, then it starts back up on 2/29 and every two weeks thereafter through May. No idea of the size

Email sent out on Medicare side about 50mins ago, letting go of 5 managers that have been around a long time, and unnamed employees, the email specifically states that “colleagues who were notified will NOT be asked to work through the paid notice period, so today was their last day with the company”
Yikes

Whomever initially posted and warned everyone about 10/12, THANK YOU! It is as significant as you warned us about.

For those let go today, I am sorry. You were an asset to Cigna and you will be an asset somewhere else. Your new full time job will be to Apply, Apply, and Apply to other jobs. I wish you the best.

For the rest of us still here, this is one of the darkest days I've experience at Cigna yet. This year has been full of other job eliminations, reorganizations, and Future of Work. We all have to continue working for a shrinking company with the worry of being let go. I've lost all respect for Cigna and will join the many Employees who still work here, but are actively applying for employment elsewhere.

Not able to confirm dates but after people in my dept were laid off today, our manager had a meeting to announce the job eliminations and reshuffling. They said to expect waves of layouts throughout the business. The video from the CHRO in the daily essentials yesterday said that expenses are outstripping revenue and that job eliminations is one of the levers they’re looking into. Of course she said it like it was the last thing they were thinking of doing.

I've consider 10//12 the second wave, there were already many Jobs Eliminated earlier this summer, especially in the Cigna Tech and Medicare areas. Ever since I seen many of my colleagues who were well experience and even some Cigna Lifers let go. Some peopled who were eliminated where pivotal to the success of our CMS Program Audit. Many were very well accomplished here at Cigna, people I looked up to suddenly just let go. I am lucky to still have a job, but this has me very uneasy. I started to applying to other jobs. I'm sadden by the direction Cigna is heading.

Started happening in Gl&O. Sounds like 10% across the board, but different groups within are impacted more than others.

id like to know which groups are being selected. ive heard in the past it was insurance, patient advocates, billers, fulfillment, pharmacy and pharmacy techs across the board including leads and supervisors. maybe some nurses too

Nothing yet in Fulfillment, but our entire shift arrives by 11:30 EST. We shall see then if they cut from there.

Meanwhile Cigna just acquired Bright.md while laying off workers. SMH
