Who is the minion manager? A.R.?

Let me guess who that “RT minion manager” was: gaslighting S-B who likes to pretend he’s a genius engineer? Responsible for the IQ debacle? Picks his nose on Zoom calls?

Hey bro... I WAS ON ALL the “money making” NPM ( AR, Profiler, etc) teams.
Didn’t matter. I was “reorganized” out. Likely because I was too “expensive” ( read “senior” (a req has been opened to replace my role by someone cheaper in Eastern Europe ) and also very likely because was outspoken in pointing out that my “RT minion manager” wasn’t “wearing any clothes” when it came to competence. Pretty sure the knives were out for some of the more outspoken experienced competent “old guard” as soon as the Vector sale was announced because we wouldn’t pull any punches when faced with poor/stupid management decisions.

So much belly aching. You all got kicked to the curb cuz your area makes no money. You're not members of the AR team since they make solid money. Not part the profiler whatever its called team since they make money. Not part of the aternity group since they make money. The only group still hovering above the 'make no money but still have jobs' threshold are the Alluvio crew and only because the people who's money is being squandered have not yet fully internalized the fact that Richard T is pure useless adjacent.

I agree with holding off on signing the severance package. I kind of wish I had not signed quite so fast because I believe there was ageism ( among other things)…. So for those of you who haven’t been hit yet…. Don’t just take whatever sh-t they offer. Negotiate. In my case, I was so done with my management situation that I was planning on leaving very soon anyway. The layoff gave me a lump sum, benefits and California EDD …. So…. Simply to not have to have a “one on one” ever again with that manager was worth it for me. But think about your situation.

@6kxg I've wondered whether they're conforming the federal WARN and state "baby" WARN statutes, in particular CA where there are (were) so many employees, and where the threshold is 50 employees in a 30 day period. I have no idea what a CA employer is required to report if the 30-day body count is less than the threshold amount. My guess is that they're following the letter but not the spirit of the law by doing layoffs incrementally to ensure they don't have to give 60 days notice before layoff. Bear in mind though that if they did give 60 days notice, odds are the severance packages would be even more dismal, or just plain non-existent.

For the uninitiated, don’t blindly sign your termination papers and accept the default severance package. Hold off and negotiate for more. Don’t sell yourself short.

10 weeks ? Wow. I got 8 weeks for nearly 7 years. Cheap ba----ds. Honestly, glad to be gone, but maddening to be let go by the incompetent useless id--t who had been passing themselves off as my “manager”. That was the greater insult. It appears that being a kiss a-s toady to management holds more value at RVBD these days than actually delivering products. They are circling the drain. I have to wonder what lies they will spew at the “Town Hall” to try to motivate the remaining inmates.

@6kx, there has been reports of people receiving 10 weeks but not sure if that's across the board or geo specific. But still peanuts compared to pre-VC takeover.

I cannot find where Riverbed has reported any of the layoffs as required by law (WARN report). This omission alone requires them to give "at least" 60 days severance or risk being sued by those they layoff.

Amen, @3uz. I was a victim and glad the veil has been lifted. Let this be a lesson for those still working at Riverbed, especially those who are truly talented and carrying the dead weight of others. GTFO before this place further deteriorates your marketability. And yes, you are very replaceable. For those thinking it won't be me because there is no one as smart as me, don't let hubris kick you on your way out.

Don't wait for the RIF because you won't like your package. You'll be offered the absolute minimum because HR (Manny and his cronies) sold you out.

What do you expect? The CEO's name is Dave "Don't-a-telli". Chances are he doesn't even know why he'd doing it.

Alluvio and Accelerations are not Riverbed's products any more. You are. Vector needs to find someone who will buy the "we turned Riverbed around and it's got a bright future but uhhhh we're selling it for unrelated reasons and we'll make you a good deal."

Ask yourself: do you want to work for any company that falls for that? Don't let inertia keep you in a bad place. Don't let loyalty to your friends and colleagues keep you here - because you're trapping them just as much as they're trapping you. The best way to help your friends is to get out and recruit them to your new gig.

+1 to previous commenter. The co is simply surviving on renewals. Expect zero innovations. None of the new products are selling and we shouldn’t expect them to. Eng had lifeline after lifeline rebrand after rebrand with nothing to show for. Just a train wreck waiting to happen.

Again, I go back to this: you want a logical explanation and a path going forward that is consistent with a “normal company”. Stop. It’s done. It’s not normal. The new demonic overlords 😈 are cutting to create something they can sell to another company…. Not a collaborative team of people who will work together. Lose that idea.

No reasons at all that’s my point. At least if you’re going to do layoffs give some sort of rationale or make some sort of announcement. It seems like they’ve been hoping the layoffs go unnoticed since many are remote.

What reason were you given for the layoff?
