@opuo+184zJyvO you nailed it....with the upcoming layoff in a couple months, even if you are the one not riffed, do you really want the extra workload on top of the extra workload from the last rif...on top of the extra workload from the rif before that one..etc
after 20+ years, I have never seen so many folks at a company just completely hate who they work for. The plunger is being pushed and the flush will happen soon!

Layoffs are inevitable. History keeps resting itself with Windstream. Be prepared for us to hear how things are onward and upward....and there are no layoffs. That is your que to hold your breathe not to get an unexpected meeting invite.

If you are not riffed, be prepared to get dumped additional work. Or deal with people that inherited job responsibilities that were let go. Which is and has been a cluster within itself. All the subject matter sales for cloud are gone, and dumped in our lap. And I’ve lost hospitality customers due to the current manager and team that picked up the work. Loss of money in both situations. Regardless, you and others will be effected.

Was making nearly 27 bucks an hour then out of nowhere & after 8 years, got riffed. Now I see they are hiring my SAME position for 18 bucks an hour. FK these people.

What about the pay scale in the Philippines or India? care to comment about that?
Maybe it's time to outsource managers and directors to China starting next quarters!
Just think of the billions we would save.

If you have been around long enough you know WS layoffs before Christmas. So let's get 2020 out of the way first before talking about 2021. Thank you. Merry Christmas.

I’ve been to the Phillipines to train those offshore teams. Its not slavery, they live better than most Windstream employees. They even have better health benefits than Windstream offers, and way more job security.

Apparently, you have zero clue what actual slavery is.

Most of the overseas help desk jobs make $4-6/hr. That is basically slavery, bi hope the board keeps that in mind. Legal and organized slavery.

Outlook is great! You just need to move to India where Windstream is hiring.

But no, really. This work from home thing has accelerated the process

I fully expect layoffs, sell offs, re-orgs, basically I expect another year of uncertainty. I work under the assumption ive got a 50/50 shot of getting rifd so im trying to get bills etc in order so i can make it on less if i have to. Thats just the reality we’re all in here.

You are delusional. But I guess it lets you sleep at night. Good Luck.

I love the positive attitude but a manager is way to low to know anything that is coming

I need to differ with you. I 'think' we are out of the tunnel and headed toward the light. If we survived this long I can only hope we are now safe, our journey is over.
I work out of GA, my mgr told us that he has heard nothing more about cuts in the IT group, we will keep shipping out PCs as we have been.

My expectation is a Late January house cleaning courtesy of Elliot. More dog an pony show to keep the new share holders happy taking about how we turned the corner. We still have a bunch of legacy network to get rid of, not sure what the over all plan is and that is the X factor.

I don't think we are going to flip the light switch and just sell and support UCaaS and SD WAN but something has to change.

Lots more uncertainty followed by poor decision making by consultants and MBA's. Depression and anxiety will continue to mount with everyone WFH and a company with no REAL direction or play book.
