Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

Mid Year PIPs

I start noticing that people start disappearing left and right. For the past 2 weeks, I almost heard one story everyday about someone is leaving C1. It can't be a coincidence that every one got a job during summer and they all leaving on the 1st week of August. I am sure Mid Year PIP start hitting people. I am on CP and I'm sure I will be in EOY PIP batch ;)
Anyone seeing this trend of people disappearing ?

About 10% of IT workers of all levels are targeted with PIP during this Mid Year performance review. Some smarter people who opted out has already disappeared or in the "vacation" status looking for external opportunities, but people who decided to work on PIP will be most likely fired by mid October.
I have survived this time, but my team lost 2 people out of 10.

Remember - never accept PIP. Always opt it out. PIP is designed for you to fail. Most people who tried to work on PIP are failed. Even if miracle halfpence and you succeed, most likely you will get below rating at EOY and next PIP again.

I know their performance calibrations or stack rankings are biased. I work with 4 people on the same tech team. They're all Directors and Senior Directors. They are complete disasters and are very incompetent and way over their heads.

If the stack rankings work then all of those people would be PIPd and fired. But they're still in their role and making disastrous mistake, putting the company in jeopardy. SEE there is bias.

You simply tell them no you didn't get a job even if you did. You tell no and never update your Linkedin.

If you opt out of a PIP and find a new job within the 60 days, do you still get severance?

@3jdw+1tTZhQcl. Yeah I can do that. But my manager is a 2 faced micro management mo--n. Im 100% sure there will be retaliation after. I doubt anything comes in my favor from HR. Planning to quit anyways. Just milking here while finding a new job.

@2rqm+1tTZhQcl. I dont think so. When I got pushed into CP, I have no other option but take it. You can quit but you get nothing.

PIP however you can opt-out. In that case you get 2 months pay/no work/no access to anything and then some severance after that. opt-in

@30days in... AR associate relations is there to take your information. Get it documented. They DO investigate. At least they will have your side of the story and you won't regret not having said anything at all. Be honest and be specific. Give dates and keep it short but informative. Good Luck.

If you are on a CP and just want out, can you request PIP?

Original Poster again. Honestly I don't know what exactly C1 is trying to do. If you think they want to get rid of older people with lot of years of C1/Industry experience with higher pay, then this mid year proved that's not the case. While older folks got PIPed/CPed, I heard/noticed more younger folks also got PIPed. They all graduated around 2018/2019/2020 and some CODA program picks as well and they all here for only 2 to 3 years. Most as Jr Associates.

At Plano compound. Behaviors like its a nightclub without the booze. Never seen anything like it. Document everything you will need it at some point. Once you are Targeted and you will be eventually, you will wish you had. Remember you are your own strongest advocate. You'll be surprised how quick and who turns on you for no reason. It's a bully beat down.

@2rcg+1tTZhQc I got pushed to Below strong within 30 days in the role from another LOB. I got into this role with a full PowerDay as if I am from outside because it was a job code change. After mid year, Immediately slammed with CP with a long list of tall asks. Its well crafted for another below strong. I'm sure I am in the list for end of year PIP. Many of my friends and coworkers suggested to go to HR which I didn't. HR is there to protect the management and company and then

@2fuw+1tTZhQcl Because they need attractive people to put in the Q&A of Rich's yearly meeting with staged setup, made-up question and Rich's well crafted answer in-front of 20,0000 employees on the zoom webinar. If you watched this year's strategy meeting on Day 4's Q&A and first person who asked question with that coffee mug then you know what I mean.

HR advised my manager not to put me on a coaching plan when I was bumped to below strong yesterday. Sure a CP is next. Retaliation for real if you report a manager or Supervisor. Was also told I would not be PIP at year end if NOTHING else happened. Not believing that.

Yes they do mess with attractive people. I was told I was a distraction. I was bumped from very strong to strong then below strong after I reported my managers boss. He fell out of his chair while leaning back too far to stare while I was at the printer.

You bet these are firings the people disappear either beginning February (year end) or July (mid year). If they give you a severance, they will turn around and send out threatening demand letters, to get cash back, like an ATM.

I was PIPed and resigned (before the PIP end date) as I found multiple job offers. My manager announced it within our team as "I have decided to leave the firm for external offer" . However, they also asked me not to tell about the job offer to my skip manager. So everything is a secret, they are experts at playing the two faced game.
