Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Severance package amount

Can any ex-employees over here who left the company after receiving a severance package share the amount they received or a range at least? I know that severance packages are based on years of service, age, and other factors, so its not an apple to apple comparison. Just want to see what is the highest Imperial have paid, at least for folks on this board.

Thee weeks per year of service. That’s why they have tendency to layoffs new employees (2/3 yrs of service). They prefer old employees to leave voluntarily to avoid the severance amount. If old employees don’t leave they will make their life miserable by providing mental stress. Imperial low level puppet leaders are good at that.

Was it total 2-3 months severance or 2-3 months per year?
I received 2 months total after 2 years. 3 people I knew also got laid off, all EIT.
What was the other people's experience?

For IOL EMIT, my bet is they second us off to an HCL or Infosys. Guarantee us 1 year of employment then the new company sacks. It's what they did in Moncton I believe.

They’re still paying severance. It’s generally a month of pay for each year of service. Got that recently here. During the mass layoffs in covid they used rankings to justify giving people 2/3 mth for each year.

I think the days of severance buyouts are over …. Imperial will follow the lead of Exxon and release people via a corrupt and antiquated ranking system to avoid proper severance. Everything has moved to a cost reduction mindset vs a culture of growth and employer satisfaction, quite sad the state that imperial is in.
