Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Severance package

How long does it take to receive the severance pay? It has been close to a month since I signed the package. 2 pay periods passed and nothing. Can’t get on the phone with anyone to ask that question.

Is an ex gra·ti·a payment considered the same as a sentence package?

I was made redundant in 2008 after 24 years and had to train someone to do my job in another country, 1 year before retirement and having to top up my pension with redundancy money.
Nothing changes.
I feel so sad to hear of all the new layoffs.

Schlumberger really screws their employees, 24 years they laid me off with 3 hours to be completely swiped out of LDAP, severance pay s—ed! Sure has turned into a terrible company!

Hey @7xvr+14DK4wFg that could very well happen to me. It's definitely in the back of my mind that i'm just being kept around to execute all these releases and I'll be at the bottom of the pile.

Hell, I’m just happy to see that there is, potentially, at least one HR person left in the company who doesn’t s—.

Last downturn they used all the HR to lay everyone off... then turned around and laid off all the HR they didn’t need anymore.

Made it really difficult to ever deal with the occasional, rare, situation where you actually need an HR human... oh, wait. That’s still true.

I didn’t get a waiver and release. I was sold.

Hey @5xbd+14DK4wFg , HR here. The vacation hours aren't part of the waiver and release. Vacation payout is offered separate from the severance. The company pays out the vacation that you have accrued so far in 2020 and not used. On the bottom of your previous paycheck, it will say "Vacation Accumulated" and that is paid out to you upon leaving the company. If this is incorrect, PLEASE contact AskHR. I'm happy to help with anything else.

I am concerned and yet confused. If you signed a waiver that states monetary values and specific benefits, that is a binding document between you and SLB. Whatever is stated on the waiver you will get. If not, I would get a lawyer involved. I am surprised, I got everything promised and then some with my waiver and severance. I got snubbed on vacation hours but the specific hours of vacation was not stated in the waiver so I couldn't contest it.

That is great news that at least 1 employee has been taken care of. All you could ask for I guess. My particular situation was different, the employee handbook didn’t apply to me, totally. I had multiple employee handbooks from all the companies slb purchased and ran into the ground. I was told no benefits would be lost only to find out that I would receive whatever the lowest benefit was in whatever handbook slb choose to use. I was never really an slb employee, just “A Schlumberger Company”. I have seen the light and I assure you it’s not BLUE!

Yep, me. I signed and received my waiver and release, exactly per the employee handbook. Schlumberger doesn't subtract anything from severance, lol... Promised promotion and promised assignment has nothing to do with your severance??? What are you even talking about.

You are paid out the vacation ACCRUED. It's not that difficult to understand. If you get canned in March, you aren't going to get paid out for your entire 2020 vacation. Duh.

You Will NOT get everything you are promised! End of story! Have anyone post that they received what they were promised...any takers? There are always items slb subtracts, years of service, that’s a joke, vacation earned versus used...joke, promised promotions, promised assignments...you get the picture. What I can tell you is that you will have PTSD with your next employer. You will not believe this but outside of slb, there are MORE possibilities!

1vgu+14DK4wFg you absolutely do get everything you're promised unless you're one of those id–ts who didnt expect it to be taxed? Lol check your pay stubs and it's all there.

Severance is paid the same as regular pay cycles. Today was a US pay day. If you didn't get it today, the next payday is May 8. You should contact whoever from HR ran your termination meeting to ask about your severance.

U fortunately they took all the power away from HR local and now corporate HR is handling everything for severance so HR local cant see anything. You gotta go through the ask hr thing and they can track it.

How is SLB severance package structured? I assume 1-2 weeks of pay per year of service with SLB?
