Thread regarding Moody's Corp. layoffs

Layoffs are coming in Q4

Layoffs are coming to the back office. Mangers have been told to hit a number effectively by whatever means necessary and to submit a list of names by mid September. This will hit already lean teams. Prepare yourselves.

@bk6 too bad they will do forced retirements of individuals with institutional knowledge and continue to promote those under 50 lacking management skills. So obvious but everyone is afraid to say something because they will be next.

@9cd I still think they mean when people leave - their position is replaced by a lower title. If an MD leaves they may replace w an AMD.

@9as I didn’t see that coming, it’s very expensive to demote someone without cause where I live so no clue for us here.

@91a demoted? Or laid off and replaced w lower title staff.

@8qc So how many have been demoted in their new titles? They should be worried as they are targeted. Sure your base might not change but your job band will. That will impact future bonuses and raises. They want you to leave before the mass layoffs occur. Don't make major purchases.

@8fk which is crazy after such a strong quarter. Sad but true.

@67t In place of laying you off at first they will try to make your days a living he-l. Then they will lay you off expect substantial numbers over the course of next year. It will be sooner than you think. Place has become a shadow of its former self. Cowards.

@5w8 well they just announced a boatload of retirement of people that have been with the company for many years but with various titles. It seemed more like tenure - and they’re filling the senior positions with Junior people.

I’m thinking that before December, they will announce another slew, but I don’t know from where they’re going to cut back. They outsourced so much and I’m sure they’re concentrating on the real estate as the leases will be becoming due next year which is a big part of the company’s output of money. Just have to wait and see.

So do you guys think it’s going to be more one offs or will there be a group layoff like previously? Thoughts on more 30-50, 80-100, more? Thank you for sharing!

@OP Already happened to a lean team in MR. Laid off the head of the team and now hiring for less senior positions instead.

Know anything more about these q4 2025 layoffs? It’s now October so I assume the lists are in. When will it happen and what do we expect the severance package to look like in weeks?

And yet a high level MA executive “resigned “. No retirement announcement. Nothing. Just moving on.

More overall, than specific area.....having said that, recent acquisitions or potential/current divestitures I would say our highest risk

Do you know if they have specific criteria for this? Like salary band, working on legacy products that will be discontinued, etc.

Much appreciated!
