Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate Training Overhaul

Looks like big blue is going to move all training under one department. Lots of layoffs coming, in Claims training too, even though the record hiring rate continues due to adding CAT adjusters and people jumping ship.

Why is it that we never hear what is going on? I never know if I should be worried or not.... But I guess that is the point

@5uvy+1u1EvxGS and @5lbp+1u1EvxGS should get together for a throwdown. One on one, no holds barred. Winner takes all - if @5uvy wins, we all have to reapply for our jobs.
If @5lbp wins, no one needs to reapply. We could all watch. If there was still a home office, they could meet there. I wonder if TheLayoff.com has a way to set up a virtual throwdown.

From what our department was told everyone will have to reapply for their jobs and that there will be RIF possibly 15% of all L&D

It is absolutely NOT TRUE everyone has to reapply for their job.

It's true. Meeting just happened today. Reorganizing. Everyone has to reapply for the few positions that will be left.

CLD is having a meeting with their director soon. Guess we shall see how transparent they are and if they say how many people this will affect.

Training in Claims Dept is something always misused as an idea to point to when results tank and officers don’t want to hold their people accountable.
Frontline managers get promoted with no technical expertise and then refuse to learn and upper management never sees it as a problem. We have people managing litigation who gave never sniffed a pending or been to a court house.
Then when they get approached about training, they always complain they are too busy for it or it isn’t realistic, blah blah.
In spite of the fact that home office has bent over backwards to delegate half of a manager’s responsibility to other departments.

It's just like sports...if you can't play it (sales/claims)...coach (management). If you can't coach it...referee (HR). If you can't referee it...train others.

And if you can't do any of the above, Allstate is hiring!

There is no need for education or training departments and employees. Flavor of the day at Big Blue is throw some self learning courses at new hires and new departments and good luck to you! See you when we term you for performance because we did not supply the resources to help you succeed!

My experience with trainers is that they are usually placed in those positions because they can’t do anything else (like drive actual results).

The only trainers I had were DEI hires that eventually got fired for poor performance.

Training ? What training? It’s all self service “training” or with BOTS. This round of butchering will be done in the quiet. We never hear about “trainers” anyway. They already don’t exist here so no love lost. Just more morale down the tubes when it gets leaked. Big A is silent on these department butcher jobs unless they are legally required to disclose them. So much for being a transparent organization

Absolutely no concern for quality or experience. The only thing that matters is where can A save a buck and create more “value” for the share holders.
