Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Employee Morale

So, layoffs are over and most of the VRP folks have left. David and Kari are headed toward the door. HIH hasn't gotten any worse. Spring is in the air.

With all that in the mix, how is the overall morale you are seeing among your team and co-workers in general?

Not very likely that Forbes and Statista are delivering survey responses to employers.

But if it's true, then it happens across the board and everyone is lying, for any employer. Cigna still came in at #17.

There is also the fact of Statista analysts conducted extensive research on each organization to evaluate company culture–related best practices, such as the composition of its leadership team. Is that lies or deliberately biased?

Either there is a conspiracy to prop Cigna up and lie about it, no matter how bad things really are, or Cigna is doing a darn good job at setting us up one of the best cultures. Ever heard of Occam's razor?

Take any contortions you want, to keep on believing what you want. Ok by me.

#17 - Cigna

So all this doom and gloom is from a small, concentrated group of chronic complainers and the employee base as a whole is pretty happy here.

Forbes has ranked America’s Best Employers For Company Culture 2026.

For this second edition of the list, Forbes partnered once again with market research firm Statista to survey more than 217,000 employees in the United States who work for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the country. Survey participants were asked to evaluate their company’s culture and to respond to a variety of questions, including whether employees were treated with fairness and respect, if they were passionate about the company’s services or products, and whether they felt empowered to take initiative and develop new ideas.

Respondents were also asked whether they’d recommend employers they had worked for within the last two years, those they knew through friends or family, and those they knew from industry experience. Three years’ worth of survey responses were collected and incorporated into a scoring system, with the most recent data weighted the heaviest. Additionally, Statista analysts conducted extensive research on each organization to evaluate company culture–related best practices, such as the composition of its leadership team. And that research was then integrated into each organization’s final score.

All told, the 600 companies with the highest scores made our list of America’s Best Employers For Company Culture 2026, which is presented below. As with all Forbes lists, companies do not pay to participate or be selected.

My team has been getting hints we could be laid off next for over a year. I spend half my day applying to other jobs. They all pay better, and I've told my manager that. He just said the equivalent of, "Well, there's the door." You tell me how my moral is.

It’s the lowest I’ve seen in 21 years at Cigna. And it’s not even close. The layoffs were handled so poorly and were completely uncoordinated with zero impact assessment across functions. Nearly every week we’re discovering that another matrix team we rely on for a service or function now can’t meet their commitments because they got rid of 15 to 20% of their staff and we had no idea. It’s insane and we’re now been instructed to lie to clients about service delivery and performance guarantees.

The company is a dumpster fire of low morale and internalized disgust.

New CEO never changes anything when he comes in, right? The beatings will continue.

Layoffs aren’t over. Layoffs will continue moving forward. I’m not sure why folks never understand this with corporate America.
