HOW Decision

I have heard two different tracts of 'fact' that are diametrically opposite - one that the decision to bring everyone back in the office was singlehandedly made by RL. The other was that the ELT all agrees that this is best for the company.

Question is, which is it? Was this a one-man decision bcz of his preference, or was this an ELT consensus?

One thing is certain - now that WFH isn;t a gaurantee, when it does occur it does seem like a pseudo holiday. I find myself working at the same pace, just a few more distractions at home that pull me from my computer a few more times per day. But that may not be the worst thing to take a 15 min break in the middle of a long computer grind all day.

Must be reassuring to know your management trusts you so little they feel they have to watch you all the time. 14

Yes - Happy people are productive people.
Unhappy people are not. Many proven studies on this one.
I applaud this as a d-mba$$ decision.

This wasn't an HR decision, therefore I don't blame HR for not wanting to comment. It was an ELT decision with no gray area. You want to know why? Because ELT wants it that way. We can bi--h and moan understanding it is just that simple.

Friday's work from home would be a nice middle ground. I don't see value in driving to the office when 1/2 are out of the office anyways. That just makes sense.

RTO Mandates are backfiring.
RTO mandates are driving away top performers, who see mandates as a clear message that top leadership doesn’t trust them.

You can ask people's feelings, but at the end of the day the ELT has put a full-stop for now on what will happen in January 2025. It isn't open for debate. I am on the fence for my feelings towards the end of WFH, but I can definitely appreciate the mandate with no room for interpretation.

COP HR VP while at the MRO town halls did not want to address the recent HOW change at all when asked by MRO employees. He referred us to the FAQs and mentioned how the decision was already made & no further discussion needed. Sounds like a fantastic group you have there.

I guarantee this was not a unanimous decision among the ELT.

RL never makes a decision by himself. That would require a spine and foresight. He is sadly bereft of either.

And not only ELT, but many managers/supervisors supported the decision.
