Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

CEO and VP - No Respect or Integrity to Their Employees

Recently laid off in US and had over twenty years of employment only received four weeks of severance pay - totally a betrayal. If you have less than five year or more of service with company, you will only receive four weeks. It is based on the project you are currently employed against. You are notified in the morning with an HR call and off the rolls by 5 PM, all benefits gone in a single day. If you really want a destination to work with satisfaction this is not the one.

When Avaya has hit rock-bottom (again) what does anyone expect? It's been another Nortel in the making for years. Long, slow, painful demise:

'...Nortel Networks, failed because of a culture of arrogance leading to poor financial discipline, a loss of key customers through lack of technological innovation and a harsh external business environment'.

Sadly, the incompetent leaders/VP's never learn.

Who is the absolute ignor - amous (Post ID: @5fik+1jN70T42) who would dare to try to "correct" the honest posts because it doesn't fit your "narrative"?

NO. These are people who have actually worked 20, 33, etc years with ONE Organization, even if that Organization morphed a few times in between.

It's likely one of those "personal brand" people mentioned below. They are not the ones who would have ever qualified to be hired by the original Avaya days or at Nortel. Yet they were "maybe" in the "industry" (low level partner), or maybe they were in dance class at their city owned community college. No wonder these people profess Happy Smiley Faces and Make Believe Land Characters. Its one thing that they are clueless in their little make believe bubbles (yet still collect a paycheck despite their inability to know how the sausage is made or that every dollar at Avaya is -$3 due to debt and expenses). It takes it to a whole new level of ridiculousness that they ACTIVELY make comments demeaning the REAL people who state FACTS. They spew their silliness publicly, regularly and actively. Yet if they get called out, they then attack the others. Simple solution. Stop making us observe your silliness. If you had facts, there wouldn't be a problem. Yet you were all the same people claiming layoffs are "just rumors", and that Avaya's demise is "greatly exaggerated". When the company is MONTHS late in filing its financials, maybe its time to just be quite and thank your lucky stars that they are so busy just surviving that they can't address how unqualified you are.
God bless the REAL industry people who are why Avaya has any clients still generating revenue.

Wow - Service tenures of 20-Yrs, 33-Yrs, 29-Yrs... Kudos for loyalty. I resigned my role 2015 after 10-Yrs, when it became patently obvious under Kevin Kennedy's 'leadership' Avaya's best days were long in the past and the Nortel acquisition achieved very little to improve Avaya's position. Even the battled hardened sales folks (with very thick skins) were saying they found it increasingly hard to sell (the Avaya vapourware) to customers in good conscious. KK's reply at Global All-Hands? '...Leave'. Classic C-level denial and arrogance. Worked out well huh? Ch-11 followed 2-Yrs later. Little changed during Jim Chorico's tenure and here were again!

I just read some of these comments knowing its true (8 hour notice where you will no longer be here, very short HR calls, 4 weeks of severance) and just wonder why did I work so hard here for the last 29 years just to be thrown out the door like this....

To be fair your experiences is with the industry and not the company per say?

Same. 33 years, 4-weeks package and less than an 8-hour notice to get the he-l out. My HR call was LESS then 45-seconds with my manager who then hung up leaving the HR person to take over. Weak individual IMHO.

I'm shocked that 20 yrs doesn't trigger a +6 weeks or a lump sum payment. Thank you for all you did to carry Avaya (Nortel/Lucent) for 20 years.

It's beyond defeating to observe the clowns who promote their 'personal brand's online that keep their jobs. They do not drive any value for Avaya, and in fact make Avaya look absolutely ridiculous. Yet they still have their jobs.

And then there are those schmuxxs who are saying things like "layoffs. What layoffs" (likely the same as the self promoters), thinking it makes Avaya look better to deny the layoffs, which is the biggest insult to all of those who have been impacted.

Avaya would save a whole lot more by getting rid of the bizarre self promoters who take more from Avaya than they ever contribute.
