Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I hope rumors about October are not true

I really can’t afford to lose the job. I’m stretched thin right now, and having a bad period in my life. You know, one of those perfect storms. What energy I have is split between handling all the problems and trying to do my best at work. I just can’t dedicate any time or effort to job search, and I also can’t afford to be jobless for longer than a month. I pray I will be overlooked if layoffs are happening, at least until some of the crisis is resolved.

No. But the guy who 100% said it would happen might have been terminated for cause for making such a wrong prediction. No severance for him!

Allstate has been treating employees like chattel for decades. Everytime there's a new president, department head, or hired tyrant the grab the ax and just start randomly chopping. Talk about a stressful and toxic workplace!

Was d-mb of me to ask for what department OP is in. Point was trying to make is. If you were ABI last year, writing was on wall for a while and they're about 99% gone. Security also took a hit. This year D&IS looks to be the one in trouble.

The non affected seem to be D3; ASC; the family of companies to name a few. Now, obviously things can change and I don't know all the goings on. But whatever happens OP, you'll be ok. And good luck!

Also bare in mind, this website is a bit of a cesspool .(which I contribute to). Some people seem to be in know but there's good amount of scaremongering and bitter ex employees (and bitter current employees).

Sure I might not even work at Allstate 🤷‍♂️

Why don’t you tell us which areas?

There have not been large widescale layoffs as of yet. But there have been smaller under the radar layoffs over the past few weeks kept quiet in areas of product, processing, pricing, and tech. Not nearly the known numbers as in prior years but a few hundred as of current. Hopefully the layoff numbers remain low for the rest of the year. But thoughts do go out to those impacted. Such a shameful horrible company this is all around.

Can't be true.....we just had a 'get hired' career fair at the Mart downtown.

We're hiring....you're sure to hear all about it in a townhall very soon. Right after we lay off a bunch of people who are at the top of their salary band. But we won't lay off the middle management a-s kissers, it'll be the rank and file who don't brownnose. We'll replace them with cheaper people we can indoctrinate to fawning, fake cheer leader culture. You know, the people who thank the leaders profusely for their time each and every useless, low information townhall?

Because your journey matters to us!

Be very careful OP @1usg+1uMBmFLm post is trying to work out who you are sssshhhh is the best defense.... remember if you work for minimum wage, give minimum effort. You are just a number to allsnake most managers struggle to get you out via hr due to 'policies' Do the basic keep ur head above water ;)

Once upon a time Allstate was a good place to build a career and raise a family. Not the best paid or exciting, but very stable and reliable. Now it’s churn and burn at the highest levels, leading to constant rounds of RIFs followed by manic / ill conceived hiring. Rinse and repeat. My gawd, the CHRO barely had time to force through Workday before he got a better gig.

But what about the SHAREHOLDERS? I think you are being pretty shellfish OP, we need constant, recording breaking profits, which means you got to go! Pune can handle your job just fine. Daddy tommy says 30% RIF or bust!

@OP, wish you the best and hope one or the other things works out for you. Hopefully even if they decide to do layoffs, the impact would not be as wide spread as the last year. Fingers crossed, for you and me!

@gzw+1uMBmFLm, I cannot agree with you more. In the exact situation as yours regrading job duration and it definitely is the worst place I have ever worked at. It is so badly managed and bureaucratic. But, they are working us so much lately that there is not even time or energy left to prepare for a job search. And I don’t want to appear as job hopper in this market.
Corporations and recruiters mindset have us by ba***s at the moment.

Wishing you the best. I've been here just shy of 3yrs. I hate the company but am too tired at end of day and wkend for job search. Worked a bunch of different places and this is, by far, most toxic culture and worst management I've ever experienced
