Most avenues for professional growth and career advancement are closed. You’ll be pushed to work more all the time, while the performance is never rewarded with matching pay or opportunities opening up. USB starts to look more like a sweat shop than anything else. It’s hard to believe that USB once had a reputation of a desirable employer with great culture. A job here should be viewed as only a temporary bridge over to an actual job elsewhere. I’ve been here for two and a half years, and it’s been more than enough. A day longer would be a total waste of time.

I passed CFA. I think I’m good. How about you?
I've worked with a few 50+ employees who felt stuck. Taken advantage of and never appreciated. They are all looking for the first exit ramp. This used to be a destination company but has changed so much.
Have any of you actually looked at the job postings!?! Do you have any idea what you want to move to? Do you truthfully have the skills needed to jump jobs? Have you spent time improving your skills/certifications/degree to show progress?
I've seen countless people move and progress, not butt kissing, but actually improving their skill sets. Smh
Thanks for the perspectives!
Agreed with others, leave after 1 year if you are not getting anywhere. If you stay, it will be harder to leave and wish you did 20 years later. Like others, I have been here 20 years, so don’t want to lose my vacation and I can’t leave because people won’t hire old folks like me.
When you are young, It’s easier to be hired, not so much after 50 plus, so leave while you can or else be struck here and pray everything you don’t get laid off like your co workers

Don't spend more than a handful of years here. The longer you stay, the harder it is to leave. I've been here a long time and while I know I probably could do better I really don't want to start over somewhere new and lose my vacation benefits. It's about the only reason I stay.
Before trying to offshore everything technical, they used to bring in trainees. Hopefully all trainees and young have realized that the bank is a resume builder and not a destination company. Once you have your skills, advertise them and find a company that brings happiness and fulfillment. You will also enjoy the 30 to 50 percent raise in pay with real work life balance.
If you started job with us bank, leave after 6 mo to 1 year. get job with a better company.
So what would you tell a young person just starting out?
Same experience. I do the work of 3 people and no path to growth.
