I've been pretty much told that I either need to step down and walk away from my role or go through the process of being let go. Is severance even an option?

@4tf. Got it, you are Tickle Buddy. And anybody who does not know who you are by me calling you Tickle Buddy obviously does not work here. There are only 8,000+ Coworkers throughout the globe. I am sure they all know who you are Tickle Buddy!
@1d8 Go fu-k yourself. You clearly don't work here and since the site is about CDW layoffs, people who do know who this refers to and we do not lose that many people to Google, so its obvious to those it impacts.
@163 didnt get a severance at all. Not a thank you for your service from the manager I had been under for almost 9 years.
Rumor has it more layoffs coming in SMB, so let’s see what long-time employees they cut loose this time to save a buck, while keeping worthless dead weight “leaders” in place.
Is it true some folks have been notified and will be leaving by end of april?
You post over and over on different threads about the "Director on the Spectrum". Nobody knows who / what you are talking about. You obviously have a problem with them. Maybe you should either get over it or setup a call to speak with them and try to resolve your differences. Not sure why constantly trashing them on a random website is your go to instead?
@a6 We. Just lost one of our brightest to Google, why...because he couldn't handle the erratic strategies and bizarre behavior of the Director on the Spectrum. Way to go CDW, you know we have a problem and get you ignore it as our best and brightest walk out the door, rather than dealing with the guy with the autism who can't get along with anybody.
@a6 Don't worry about the bringing bridges thing. In the exit interview do not hesitate to take down the "Director on the Spectrum"! if you or your team work for him.
@154 Not true. Unless you are straight up fired on the spot for egregious cause, almost always get something, even if it’s just 2 weeks. It keeps the lawyers happy, and makes it easier to get signed termination liability releases. Speaking from experience in many terminations. 99% had some severance component.
@14x of course not. Severance only applies to layoffs. If fired or PIP out, they’d get squat. Not even unused PTO due to new bean counter flex pto policy. What a joke. That being said- OP should make it as hard on them as possible. Don’t quit. Force their hand to drag it out. Maybe layoffs come by April and you can get a softer landing. Maybe.
@h8 small biz
@jy So if they PIP you out or separate you still get a severance?
@OP dont quit. Let them either pip you out, fire you or lay you off in which case you’d get severance. Don’t make it easy on them for even a minute.
Document everything and have them make the move. Make them provide details of why they’re making that move. Take the unemployment. It might su-k for a couple of months until you find a new job but it could be worse… like staying where you are and working at CDW. Theres so much better out there than you deserve. You’ll see it one day soon.
@OP what area of the business are you? High level is fine…..
Happened to me. I took the severance and regret nothing.
Nobody checks references anymore. Don't worry about burning bridges, just don't do it in the interview process.
Don’t quit. Let them terminate you. You can use it to get better comp with help from an attorney. And you can apply for EI too. Let them make the move.
Which division if you’re able to share?
Severance is 3 months. You'll be offered Cobra but you pay all premium costs and it's more than it would be if you were employed.
ACA would be cheaper if you find a plan you like.
Sometimes in life there are more important things than $ (health being #1).
@a2 Dan Goodman?
@OP Hang in there until you get that early morning email. While you're waiting, update your resume. Take your severance, then start the job hunt. Don't burn any bridges.
Couple of things to do immediately. Get anything personal (Pay info, performance appraisals, letters of recommendations, network contacts, etc.) or anything you need for a job search (or to file a complaint) that is not company confidential off your computer. Reach out to Dan Goodman on LinkedIn.
I wouldn't leave on my own as that would likely impact any severance possibly any unemployment.
Good luck.
