Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Lessons to learn for Micky and Mary

Jensen Huang, chief executive of chipmaking titan Nvidia (US:NVDA), used the phrase when addressing staff on a quarterly earnings call in May. “Your brilliance and craft and the culture we’ve created are Nvidia’s superpower,” he added. The chief executive of Uber (US:UBER), Dara Khosrowshahi, expressed similar sentiments in early August, when the company reported its first ever profitable quarter. He said the milestone was “the result of the work of thousands of employees [...] who are the true heroes”.

Anyone who has watched the ride-hailing group navigate a string of workforce disputes and scandals – from wage wranglings to allegations of harassment by senior managers – might conclude that workers haven’t always been treated with this level of reverence. Nvidia, which came in at number six on an annual list of the best Fortune 100 companies to work for in 2023, appears to have few such problems. An impressive 97 per cent of employees surveyed said the company was a great place to work, and the same number reported feeling that management was ethical and honest in its business practices. The feel-good factor that comes from your company capitalising on a potentially transformative technological shift is unlikely to fully explain these results.

Some companies evidently think it’s beneficial to be regarded and acknowledged as a good employer. From a recruitment and retention perspective, it makes good business sense.

@4nag+1onYVGeV let's atleast try to be intellectually honest here. DXC's debt is not really egregious and it's all financed at fairly low rates. There are other reasons to dislike the company this really isn't one of them yet.

1tic+1onYVGeV - agree; with a shrinking $$ share price (although recovering a bit) and less dividends and bonuses for Mikey No 2 and Steak Cutter no 2 - expect Mikey no 2 to do another Share payback scheme shortly to artificially boost the share price up again and for them to take more $$ - but add more crippling debt to the company

Please do not compare Nvidia, uber, intel with our company. They are a different league.

We are a bunch of losers who have very little skill and knowledge serving some contracts which are dying on the vine. ... another bunch of execs (pretty well paid and came in on real good stock option terms), who are essentially here for relationship building with other companies / industry heavy weights and will jump the ship enmasse as needed. Have you noticed that they take care of each other pretty much very well. Of course there will be townholes, virtual fun events, anniversary celebrations, useless udemy trainings etc. these are just smoke screens.

The reality is the company is shrinking quarter after quarter.

Hey Gang

Nvidia haha they will go nowhere. You guys work for me and Mary. We have redefined the working model as a one way partnership, We love taking a slice of your pay every month and You should appreciate that.

We can turn this ship around next quarter if you guys peddle a bit faster. When we get back from our hols next year both of us will do a day's full work and lead from the front to keep you motivated.

Please can you put up some good reviews on sites, I've hired a couple of guys who are doing it as a full time role using different ids but the tide is turning against us.

Hoping I can get through the next analyst call in 8 weeks time, definitely can use macro downturn as an excuse, any other ideas send them through. Could blame Del Bean not up to the job on the back of the last call, the analysts already figured him out....

Just bought a $20 mansion in the current real estate pricing downturn, managed to get a good deal, got too much money floating in the bank account don't know what to do with it. Should I buy DXC shares haha no way, not with my money, don't want to be investing in a titanic.

Hey punks Go ahead. Make my day.

Keep it up, like me and Mary do every day, we're hard at it.
