@7peg+16SfoGx3 You nailed it
One month my management says there is no OT allowed. The next they give us a talk about how we all need to pitch in and do more OT. At least make up your mind sheesh.
ILEC isn't safe. My entire team was let go with me as the only one to support my product. I decided not to be a one man army and gave a 1 week notice. Decisions are being made beyond your manager, director, or VP. From here on out it's all about the consultants, lawyers, and courts.
ILEC is a utility and they will keep that afloat at a bare minimum for anyone else IT'S OVER!
It has gotten to the point in my group that our VP told us to just start letting stuff fail. His response has been his team doesn't have the bandwidth to get to it.
Corporate just keeps cutting the budgets trying to make up for the fact enterprise doesn't make and dang money and it is really starting to hurt the parts of the bussiness that are actually profitable.
Thanks for hanging in there.
What I see of the beleaguered few still at Windstream (ILEC) around here is that they're all doing their damnedest even if folks above them don't care. Service s—s but it's not for want of trying by the local crew.
There's still some of the old Concord Telephone Co spirit left even after 14 years of abuse.
Also, at least the local network here was in top shape when Windstream bought it in 2006. That's a lot better than some old Alltel properties which have been intentionally starved for decades.
The ones of us that are salaried and still care about the customer are working 20 hours overtime every week and never get paid a dime more. We have taken it to management and get the same response every time..."help is on the way 30 to 45 days out" more headcount. Two problems with that. already has been several 30 - 45 daytime frames since first said and who the heck is going to train them? My job takes a good 6 months to learn. No I am not in the call center and yes it is a vital role. I am in a group of awesome co workers who all care about our customers (ILEC) and we will keep on doing what we do. Best of luck to all of you and the ILEC techs we have are some of the best in the industry and it is my privilege to work with each and everyone of you. I get to sit behind a phone at a desk you are customer facing and take the grief 24/7.
File a lawsuit - believe me this will not fly in the eyes of the court - 'HR said whatever deals I worked out with my manager is between me and him.' If a manager said engage in s-xual favors for a promo would HR also say - 'This is solely between you and your manager'. Not likely! HR is either incompetent or likely just wanting you to go away.
Just make sure you document and retain all details - I have years and years of information to back up any and all claims once I am ready to do so. Elliott will be defending Windstream management practices and associated settlement pay outs for several years I suspect.
You're not a slave to TT and his boys. Leave
Yeah, my manager is trying to give us off the books comp time for everything. He already “lost track” so wanted all banked comp days reset. So I worked 20hrs of OT and got nothing at all for it. I will never do a favor for that man again! I reported this to HR and they said whatever deals I worked out with my manager is between me and him. How is this company still in business at ANY level?!
I agree that this OT is getting old. There are times I don’t see my house for several days at a time. I end up sleeping in my truck between tickets
Or how about this family without internet for a year!
Don't worry though, Windstream promised they are working on a long term solution. Seems they feed the same bs to customers as they do the employees.
At least we're being recognized as a diverse workplace. I wonder if that's because half our "staff" is oversees.

Maybe you guys should help this customer. His experience pretty much summarizes Windstream today.

Must be nice. My team is in a zero overtime mode. Hit 40 and start the weekend. Only OT allowed is callout because it's a different budget.
16 on and 8 off? We aren’t permitted OT even when needed to complete your workload. Even if you end up with OT, they force you to “give it back” by making you leave early once you hit 40.
Welcome to the new Normal
I have the same thing in my market. It’s only going to get worse
