Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

CLEC tech exodus

Moses is parting the universal tech sea!! Many 10-20 year techs, with bu-t loads of experience, have put in their 2 weeks! Many more are in the process of looking. From constant needling from mgmt, to horrible systems, to an unfair pay gap, to clueless directors, you have finally woken us from our slumber. This company has zero clue. Or if they have a clue, they don’t give a fu-k. We’re tired of doing a net techs job on a field techs salary. Tired of trying to manage our work loads and another groups work load. Tired of the get on board or get out attitude. Tired of the constant days and nights. There is life out there after Windstream and we can finally see it now. We see others submitting their two week notices. We are now asking vendors and industry peers, we have built solid relationships with, if they’re looking. This company has taken an effective field force and crushed it’s soul under their boot. They have made it over worked, underpaid, under appreciated, and physically sick. Well no more. Be prepared. There are more 2 week notices to come!! And 2 weeks more of my time is more that you deserve! P.S. This is a thing. It’s not just localized. It’s talked about. Other departments around the organization see it. And some feel it. It’s catching fire. It’s becoming a movement.

The irony is we take Ethics training saying we should have have equal chances at promotions.

@4mks+1gg2semu i've been here over a decade and most of the promotions I'm aware of were not posted positions. It was the same at every other company I was at.

Windstream swings low and pays low. I’ve also seen a lot of leadership positions filled, senior positions filled, and incapable people moved up.

Disgusting place. Leaders build a team around themselves, inflate the value of their work, attack anyone who dares to question if there’s a better way, get moved up, and repeat. You never have to worry about your mess imploding. Teams will change, new system will be implemented, and fake work falls off the radar

Desperation over qualifications

Anything to keep the ship afloat and not face a lawsuit

Something strange is going on - many people promoted recently bypassing internal posting requirements that would have allowed all Windstream employees (regardless or race, gender or education) an opportunity to advance within the companyy. The excuses are tiresome as to why these are not posted. And as someone else mentioned most are non college graduates. Anyone know what is going on and why these are hiding this apparent discrimination?

CLEC is just bleeding the veterans, overworked with unmanageable workloads! Prepare for write-ups because you can't hang.

We need another chili cook-off to add to the misery.

What is funny is how the lower educated (GED or associate degree) advance, while those with 4 year college degrees languish. And they wonder why the company never succeeds

“ LOL - Touchy, aren't we. Wonder why that is.”

Nope, I’m not touching in the slightest. Finding something comical isn’t being sensitive. Yes, I find it funny that people who haven’t worked here in 3, 4 or 5 years feel the need to come to this site to bellyache about a place they haven’t had to deal with in years. Move on with your life and stop focusing on your past employment. What you’re doing is like stalking your ex to see what they’re up to while continuing to bash them on social media. It means you’ve never moved on emotionally despite having a new significant other.

You’ve moved on to a place while making 500% more money, but still have to come talk about WS. Grow up and move on mentally and emotionally as well.

Maybe the culture crews can scoeys a free cr---y t-shirt to boost morale.

Or maybe TT can share more epiphanies from the Swiss Alps vacation to brighten our day.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I am a current employee and yes previous employees do visit this site. I know because we stay in touch and they are amazed how things never improve. Its like looking at a car wreck, probably shouldn't look, but there is still that morbid curiosity. Bottom line, CLEC and WE cannot keep new employees, and experienced employees JUST DONT CARE any longer. Good job management team, well done.

It’s comical that so many people who moved on to “WAY bigger and better” continue to come back to this site to voice displeasure. When I eventually move in, I’m not coming back here because I’m not that petty. There seem to be more former employees that post here than current. Your employment situation is now all rainbows and butterflies since leaving WS so why do you feel the desire to come back here and chirp?

This is so true! The horrid culture is talked about all the time. Seeing more and more solid techs leaving lately. Part of me thinks this is what they want. But once that flood gate starts rolling, it may become unstoppable.

It amazes me how much a concentration of skills and knowledge are held by a few. This company is 1 step from disaster. There have been times that a NOC or team has had to wait for someone to return from vacation to resolve an outage. Our leaders really have no clue.

Its not just the field techs leaving They recombinedvine groups to try to keep limping along, fk BB, TT and JM. And then you have the tone deaf EVP that had to post a story about a boondoggle to create a new slogan. I mean how fu----g stupid can you get!
