Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Another staff reduction in Fairfield, Ohio?

Yesterday, some folks were let go forever. Let's see ....it started last year and continued with the recent and very rapid departure of the GM & HR (their choice?) along with elimination of the 2nd shift. Not a pretty picture.

@4liv Agree that seniority is not a factor. Neither is productivity. Those selected to stay are the ones who play the HOS games. You'll see the ones who will be picked to stay standing at tier boards, out on gemba walks, turning in CI forms, etc. The ones who just get the work done are on the list to go.

@1syv+1ngeRgJx From my understanding they only kept 5 people from the second shift, so in all, they let go 19 people from production. Not sure what you are trying to say about " Known disabilities", if you're going to a one-shift operation you HAVE to keep the personnel that produces for you. Also from my understanding production hasn't been working 40-hour weeks for months. This should have been a warning sign to all employees. Then when they furloughed all of the second shift for two weeks, everyone should have known what really was happening. Just be happy you are out of there and the rest of the employees can go down with the sinking ship.

I don't like to see anyone loose their jobs, but when it comes to reduction in force they have to keep the most productive people. Seniority has never come into play when layoffs happen with this company.

No 2nd shift? No way can they pay the overhead to keep it going. That was the demise of the European operations years ago. What do they say in that town come football season when it's game over?

Plenty of capacity in that industry. Triple net lease, declining share of the hardware, and adopting non industry ERP and Estimating system. Just outsource it until the business is divested - Shut it down. Too bad because if the business was ran correctly, it generates allot of cash as a down and dirty business.

4 of the 5 released on Thursday had known disabilities also. 2 who were let go had 20(+) years in. Management kept 2 people with less seniority. Something is up

Actually, things are moving back into the US due to stiff tariffs and not moving out of US to exploit tax recovery that a listed company enjoys.
Problem is that Honeywell produces products that people seldom want to buy from.

As long as Honeywell can stay below the Warm notice level, that's how they operate. Death by a thousand cuts. Or 10's of layoffs. I am sure that there is much more as things are moved out of the US.
