I’ve been working on my exit plan for well over 9 months. My biggest fear so far is not being able to find a job replacement because of my age. There are a few people I know who are still unemployed and looking, while the younger ones have landed jobs pretty quickly. I’m grateful to still be employed, but I know that sooner or later my ticket will be punched and I’d rather be leaving on my terms.

Many of us can sympathize with you and the rest will someday in the future.
We wish you luck in your search. I know for some older people they do have to take a bit of a pay cut to get into a new job. I had to do that a few years ago when my whole department was outsourced at wellcare (I stayed within the company, but had to move down a level to do so in the new department) It was a hard pill to swallow, but after a couple of years I was able to work my way up again and was exceeding my old salary.
I hope you find something that fits your needs. Good luck.
When the guy whistles and sings in Spanish instead of making outbound/inbound calls like his fellow co-workers make every day then that is a problem. He obviously is not doing enough for his team except for “easy” projects and should be removed from the company along with his supervisor who is covering up for him down here in REN 4.
HR nor compliance do nothing about ethics, code of conduct etc...all these are only good on paper for corporate run the business sake. I was surprised that Ethic points complaint is closed without even investigation on one of the concern from my team. Bottom line is to just move on and do what's best for us
The complaint is valid! We all know HR is not for the employees. The person is voicing his situation here since HR is not for the employees. If it is true that this is what is going on in REN 4 Tampa, it absolutely needs to be investigated. This is a form of discrimination when a person with the same exact job title as you is doing far less work and it’s been going on for year after year with no repercussion. Also perhaps they are hoping upper management reads the board and does something but we all know they won’t do jacksh*t even though they know who this person is as well as his co-worker friend is. It would be obvious if you look at his performance in comparison to the average outbound/inbound calls his team or PHS department makes.
Just curious. What does a thread with the title "Anxious due to age" have to do with the continuing and monotonous saga of some man in one location? We all know he doesn't work according to the many posts about him. He is not laid off nor interesting. Contact HR or the Compliance hotline and let them know about the issues with him and his BFF boss. Or, keep one, separate post going to complain about the guy. 99% of us would appreciate that.
Here is a kicker. The 60 year old Spanish Program Coordinator who currently works in REN 4 has another Spanish buddy who came in the office for one day to train to do mailing. All he has to do is lick envelopes all day while the other two co-workers continue to make 100 + calls a day. We all have the same job titles but somehow he and his buddy “get away” with doing “easy” projects that require very little time and energy. I have to agree the PHS leadership team that they are very crooked and put unnecessary pressure on people so they do double work to make up for these two b-ms.
A statement would be made if they let go of that man who barely does any work. However with the director of the department calling the shots and being close to this man, I doubt any higher up will want to unravel this scandal going on in REN 4.
The 60 year old Program Coordinator currently working in REN4 successfully flew “under” the radar yet again this week… much like what he has been doing for the past year and a half. He has no accountability and has no fear of doing very little work while his co-workers bust there a** making 100 + calls a day. He is sheltered by a very crooked PHS leadership team.
To the post below: We all know that this 60 year old Program Coordinator who currently works in REN 4 hardly does any work and his scorecard his stamped “special” project by his PHS supervisors covering up for him. However this has been posted several time and it appears that nobody that is higher up that looks at this board is paying attention to what your saying or cares to do anything about this so called problem. Just let it go. Karma will eventually catch up to him and his PHS supervisors who are treating him like there buddy.
The 60 year old man in FL who doesn’t work is in office in REN4 is a “certified” bum who has all the PHS supervisors covering up for him.
REN4 is the building in Tampa near Henderson Road.
REN4 is the building number in the Tampa Office off Henderson Road.
@4kht+1bEjCgn5 If they kept the people that work and know their job, they would have to pay claims approve Auth etc etc etc . ( you know do the right thing for the people) Centene is a money making machine with tactics that the Devil doesn’t even know about. So it’s the federal and state governments fault that they allowed Centene to cheat the system and the New Devil MFN sit on his pile of money with pitchfork in hand stabbing all the minions that didn’t abide by his Devilish ways…
Why does Centene keep people who are not motivated to work like the one person in FL. Makes no sense!
Class action lawsuit for age discrimination!!! Sounds like there is MANY that can be witness to what they have and are doing.
Age + higher pay had everything to do with many of the folks being laid off in Feb / March. These were people that had the company history / knowledge and were not let go for any other reason. Enough others were sprinkled in so that it was not as obvious. As legacy Centene I don't know anything about the one man in FL that doesn't work, but is often discussed. Also unsure what REN means, but as far as who was laid off, I am positive I know what happened.
I was way older than 40 when I was laid off this year. I am positive salary was the biggest obstacle during my search; even more so than age. For the most part, jobs seem to have a requirement list a mile long and pay entry level salaries. I was able to obtain a job with a decent starting salary within about three months. I know some people, older and younger, that found jobs much quicker as they had contacts at other companies who helped them cut through the red tape. I would reach out to anyone you know, past or present, who works at a company you are looking at. It can't hurt and it may help.
I understand your concern. I turned 40 one week, and was let go literally the next one. It has been a tough road trying to find a job that isn’t trying to pay me pennies.
