Is there any truth to it?

@5bw the problem with FP vs Mattel is the fact that all FP businesses LOOSE money. They are not profitable in a shrinking category dominated by entertainment. It’s actually quite amazing the businesses that moved to ES lasted as long as they did.

Well, it's March. Nothing really happened in February

@7t8 I’m so curious too - negativity with no receipts just stinks of emotional immaturity. Those comments are probably from someone who wanted chucks job and didn’t get it

@5br it has been a while since FP had a successful leader. What's wrong with the current one?

@5bw my favorite thing about the difference between Mattel and Fp is competence. Let’s pick on marketing for a second - AMMs at FP work just as hard as managers and above. They take responsibility where they can, learn stretch and grow with very little opp for promotion. They can manage a product from concept to shelf to ads with a little bit of up line guidance and help. They’re also (gasp!) nice for the most part and have no reason to be competitive with anyone but themselves. AMMs at Mattel just ignore emails if they don’t know how to respond or feel like doing the work and cry/threat to be a flight risk as a means to a promotion that is almost always received and are extremely toxic and competitive with each other for no reason. So imagine where that’s learned from - up line. Yikes. Accountability isn’t a word that exists in ES. It’s all corporate Botox and bullsh-t. That’s why Mattel fails at everything it’s tried to do ”fix” from Fp by slapping a new sticker on it. Hard work works hard. It’s that simple.

@2et Not true. You are not guaranteed your RSUs. I speak from experience. You will likely lose anything not vested already inside your official employment end date.

@5br
Problem at FP is that Mattel keeps using FP as a place to push loses on. Without FP, Mattel brands world need to show reality. Also many corporate functions roll under FP budget? Why would that be?

Ask ES how the 3 brands transferred from FP to ES are doing? Complete sh-t show that will show in the numbers as FP doing bad even though they're done in ES.

FP may not be the problem, but the leader of FP sure is.

@4pj The follow up meeting is to discuss the special surprise EA will recieve after we hear about the full bonus pool in the town hall. HR has been working late planning it for a few weeks now.

They don't think they're the problem. They think that FP is the next limb to cutoff to keep the head alive a little longer.

@4sj it’s so funny to me that Mattel thinks Fp is the problem.

@4qe not necessarily- if you imagine a scenario where they truly were closing a campus and laying everyone off, I think it would make sense to keep it short and sweet with “details to follow” instead of dragging it out. You don’t think 20 minutes would be enough time to make such an announcement? I guess time will tell.

@4qe 100% - a 20 minute q&a would absolutely not be the move.

Stop perpetuating fear!!!

@4pj If that were really the case, I think it would necessitate more than a 20-minute Q&A.

FP campus will be sent packing. Follow up meeting from the ES town hall already scheduled for the FP campus.

Get your resumes ready.

@3qn
HR staying late. Now that's a joke. Clearly not someone who ever worked at Mattel. Never seen HR in office after hours.
HR barely in office and the first ones gone at the end of the day.

@3qn HR could also be working late because of year end reviews. Perhaps they're getting promotions, salary increases and bonuses ready, along with layoffs.

@1zb when they lay you off they vest you in all outstanding shares. So they are not saving $$ on any Rsu

by

Post ID: @2et+1ke7rkevj

They're doing it so they don't have to pay off any of your RSUs.

It's coming. Leadership all in closed door meetings with HR. Making the lists and checking it twice. Major reductions on the way.

Be prepared. Put everything on hold and coast till it's over. No sense ki-ling yourself if you're on the list.

Of course it's true. Senior leadership has been talking about it for months. And if you are Dir+ with RSUs, or Mgr/SeMgr with special stock grant and are laid off, do the math on what a Feb layoff + 60 day WARN does for your RSU vesting date.

It's been planned long before any Q4 revenue indicators. Even if we smash Q4 expectations, RIF is still happening.

How can they move the headquarters they are in the middle of remodel?

by

Yes, I heard they will announce the closing of ES at the next town hall, followed by massive layoffs to lighten the move the new HQ in Glendale. It's like having a garage sale before a move. The amusement park was all a big distraction.
