Sharp Layoffs

First round of Sharp layoffs will begin Monday June 30th, with more rounds most likely to come soon after. They will disguise the layoffs as putting people on “administrative leave” as the attempt to avoid legal or financial obligations (like severance, WARN Act notice, or unemployment claims). Very shady.

Yep, there are good reasons to be sceptical.
It would not be the first time they tell us one thing today ust to turn around and do something completely different tomorrow.

Well, with the BBB passing, it looks like healthcare’s gonna take a serious hit. Sharp sent an email to employees claiming no more cuts are planned “for now.” I’d love to buy that, but I’ve got zero faith in Sharp’s word at this point. All I can do is keep doin’ my job and givin’ it my all.

@31h I’m not happy about the layoffs, but I keep thinking, what do employees expect a company to do when it’s bleeding money? This seemed like a cost driven decision, plain and simple. I imagine leadership had a savings target in mind and made cuts to hit that number. From that perspective, it makes sense they’d weigh factors like tenure, salary, and benefits. An older employee with a family is a bigger expense than someone newer and single. It’s a harsh reality, and unfortunately, it meant losing a lot of talented people.

@1es Got news they are excluding all employees on a medical leave from receiving all administrative pay, health benefits due to being on a LOA YOU ARE NOT GETTING ANYTHING BUT ESCORTED OUT THE DOOR! Does anyone hear discrimination in this decision? The severance pay is a JOKE! Look at the severance pay normally 1-2 weeks per years of service. They selected based on age and whether or not employees have a ILV. Choose to outsource jobs instead of keeping good employees.

@2pp this is the issue with management, there is no oversight, some of these people get to work from home and others come and go, no set schedule, no staff support during shortage, no active role with process improvements. But hey, let’s keep those people that offer nothing to the team and let go of the employees that are productive and top performers!

@1x2 I agree! There is something very wrong with the culture. It’s very toxic. Feeling undervalued, discouraged, and unsupported is everyday life. It’s been going downhill for a while but we continue doing more with less.
