Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What’s the rationale behind the company‑wide HireVue assessment?

Apparently, guidance is coming down that we’ll be participating in a company-wide IQ-style assessment. I’ve heard it consists of puzzle-based short games designed to identify talent and is conducted via screen recording and webcam. Each organization will have its own scheduled window through the end of next month. Historically, hasn’t talent here been evaluated primarily through academic performance? It’s curious what we might discover by measuring people in ways that have almost nothing to do with what they actually do.

I’ve heard talk of re-evaluating all software engineers using LeetCode, though I haven’t seen any HireVue directive from leadership. It will be interesting to see what emerges from comparing LeetCode-style results to actual output, there’s almost certainly a story there.

This doesn’t surprise me. When was the last time the company actually did something right? The people here have become sleazy. This is not the same company I signed up for years ago. I can’t wait to get to my 30 years.

I have not heard of this in my organization. It does not appear to be equitable and by that, it should not be pursued.

@g7: no that is not correct. It is the 7th item, but the number 7 is not a correct answer.

7+4 would be a correct solution.

HR did a pilot last year. It failed. The selected employees that took the test expressed negative feedback. Leadership wants to move forward anyway. I’m not a fan of the test, but will comply.

My first job out of college the company had you do an IQ test and another behavioral test.

I had a large number on the IQ test which got me in the door but I must confess they found out over time I was an emotional mess. This was almost 40 years ago before there were emotional intelligence books floating around.

I think they should just stick with their current DEI checklists for hiring the right people... that's working great!!

To bad the company does not apply that same standard to senior management. Examples
BF - Only qualification Gene Poll. Had CEO job but was fired by his own family in 06. In comes Allan to bail them out.
JF- Just admitted to a $19bn loss with EVs , Not grown market share in fact Ford left the car market. Blames employees takes "ZERO" accountability for his actions.

To bad HR does not force the BOD and Senior management take a test. Let's face it companies bench is very weak do to yes men , Fof, and quotas,
For the record I am not racist or anti woman. my best boss was a minority. I look at her like family not a boss. she made it fun to come into work.
Unlike JF who claims the talent is not there. who is he to judge? I mean really. Wall Street ask this question. What has JF or BF really done for the company?

HireVue. "The View". Takes the same lack of IQ. How about JUST sticking with P+ZD. aka Profits and Zero Defects? DUH!
