Anyone managed to wangle VR in the U.K. lately? Asking for a friend.

@4rw I wasn't let go, I managed to escape, with money in my pocket !
I was leaving anyway at the end of the year. Yay !
I've received several goodbye emails again this month, so another batch of employees must have been let go for the end of June.
For those getting UK WFR, it is likely too much tax has been paid.
In the mean time:
- - Ask DXC to send you a breakdown of the figures.
- - You also need to wait 2 months for the P45 to be sent to you by post
- - A lot depends on if you get another job before April 2026,
- - Best to claim your refund about Jan 2026
- - Expect to pay unexpected extra tax which should have been dealt with DXC (from any unpaid tax which may have arisen because of too much savings that arn't in an ISA
- - If over 60, reallt consider ASAP taking out the 25% from standard life - Use it to fund your wife's and your own individual £20K ISA allowances. SL are really poor.
- - Good luck - best thing that ever happened to me
@46b Check your tax, think I’ve overpaid.
Definitely a WFR round end of May, all reports say the leadership bungled it, failed to hit their targets so expect further rounds in later quarters.
Out now and just been paid my 50 weeks VR. Thank you DXC, at least you managed to deliver my money on time and on budget !
How’s 1q going?
You want to leave, then leave your not a slave !
Given the number of farewell emails sent last week I'd hazard a guess VR finished end of May, lucky buggers
Yep left at the end of May
Last day was 30th May.
Applied for VR multiple times over 24 months, finally got accepted after a frank chat with manager, age, pay, type of work, lack of new stuff etc. Agreed to let me go and approved VR.
If you want to go, persevere emailing that mailbox, you'll get there eventually.
Yep, out end of June, can't wait
@zf
lol - you don't get out much
You think DXC is worse? Lol have you even seen the state of Kyndryl? Absolute shambles…grass truly looks green on the other side. Hold my beer…
Working in DXC is like being caught in a fishing net.
Best way to leave is to cut that net webbing and just escape.
@ss
"Nothing stopping you from learning modern relevant stuff and getting actual certs if you want to."
This is true - in your own time you can do some great training.
The problem is you are limited to your cage andthere is little chance to grow beyond your starting point. The good things about available training in DXC are
- - For DXC - The poor numpties that DXC employee can be trained until they can actually do the job
- For you - If you want to leave, training can be useful, but you start the next job with zero experience
Once an employee knows how to scrape a billing, there is nowhere else for the employee to go in DXC, and that is why there are no pay rises
Nothing stopping you from learning modern relevant stuff and getting actual certs if you want to... Its not like you can't spend your day doing that... Assuming you actually want out of dxc.
@q2 It's quite difficult to move, especially after years of being ground down by DXC.
Try explaining to your next employer what it is you are contributing where you are now. I fill in my time sheet, and I do my mandatory training. No I've not worked on the latest technology - DXC only does legacy. My last project was late, over budget and I spent most of my time on status trackers, and endless meetings. No they didn't give me any training, so I yes I was just faffing about doing what I thought best.
Your next employer wants people operating at the top of their game, who have every accreditation going, and who are genuinely passionate about delivering best in class IT solutions. None of that fits with anyone who's let DXC rot their CV for more than a couple of years.
But it can be done so keep trying...
"Yes, I’ve worked in legacy environments. That means I’ve learned to be resourceful without hand-holding. I've seen first-hand how misalignment and underinvestment damage outcomes. Now I’m hungry to be part of something better — to build solutions that work, with people who care.
A personal event made me realise I was wasting my time. I want to work somewhere that supports professional development and values real delivery, not just busywork. I’ve learned a lot about what doesn’t work — now I want to be part of a team that gets it right."
The USP you brought into DXC? It gets changed into monotonous simple "experience", stuff that an ignorant grad monkey can do in 6 months, and yes they will be paid more than you when they join in a few years time.
Thereafter, your CV is so stale, you can't easily leave. DXC have completed your transformation - You leave and the next employer gets a legacy trained duffer or you stay and get paid sh*t for the rest of your life
I know I'm no genius for staying, and clearly neither are you.
Can some genius please explain why would you not get another job with so many years experience under your belt? I don’t understand.
I really want to help and be useful, but in this company it is impossible. nobody gives a sh-t... so i gave up and wait for WFR, or that someone gives me something meaningful to work on.
I won't miss my team or my manager. I'm starting to think it's not even worth holding out for the pay off. The place is in chaos. I know I'll never get another job, not without a lot of therapy to get over the damage DXC has inflicted.
@nc
This is spot on. takes a long time to recover too - from what I now feel was corporate torture and management abuse
@hk If your line manager is any good they will find a way to help you get it - Mine did and it’s honestly the best thing that’s happened in my working life. I miss the team and my leader, but the company is toxic to the core
@gq lol
don't put head above parapet unless willing to go.
looks like you showed true colours abd now paying for it. be brave and LEAVE!
@e4 How long did it take from you registered interest until you were out?
If you have to ask, you won't get.
WFR is given to those that bosses don't want for personal reasons, and no matter how badly they are treated over the years, the employee doesn't leave without a package.
Are they offering VR to specific areas / accounts. Or if you want out, does it just need a quiet work with your line manager? I would happily leave. But equally I can stay and take a bit more money for doing not a lot of useful work.
If you express any interest. Take it, whatever the offer. If you decline it like I did. They put you on a list of people who don't need a pay rise ever again.
@eg
yes, grab the £2.8k when offered in first few days.
@e4 do they still give you the additional £2.8k?
Hopefully very soon.
another here
what do you want to know
Yup
I got it in December last year, and finished this January. Dxc were very good and honoured my legacy T&C's.
