TUPE for engineers working the BAE account?

Are there any plans to offer TUPE to those who work on the BAE account?

@3ikp+1t8mkKM5 if the BAE executives care mostly about cost then is it safe to assume DXC wasn't making much margin on all the other services? As you say 30% more for 30% less. As far as hosting, BAE migrating to another MSP or cloud means DXC would have empty datacenters. As I understand DXC owns these data centers and some of them have hardware from the 70s. Perhapse the reason they're keeping hosting is because they don't want to be stuck with an ancient data center that will need to be shut down and sold. Thus running it at break even or a even a slight loss is preferable? Just seems odd that this is happening now. Why wouldn't BAE leave dxc earlier after all these years and terrable preformance unless DXC's thrown in the towl. Also why was this contract split out into its own subsidiary (FDS)? I'm external so just trying to understand the basics here. Ty.

Ergo its cheaper since DXC bent over and spread to keep BAE under the 30 30 contract "30% more for 30% less" and migrating services out of Maidstone and Sevenoaks would be a nightmare. DXC also bear the cost of purchasing the hardware and simply lease it to BAE.

Terrifying to think that BAE depend on DXC not caving in to keep the lights running

The only reason DXC are keeping hosting is £££ and risk

For most of BAE services are hosted out of the 2 DXC datacentere in Kent those being Sevenoaks ODC and Maidstone MDS. The components of BAE that arent supported by DXC are hosted out of datacenters on BAE sites. Barrow, Broad Oak, Scotstoun etc which would be easier to TUPE the staff supporting those as they have for years

This isnt a great move for DXC nor is it a horrible move for the MSPs missing out on the hosting bid. BAE is notorious across the board both nautical and airborne for its legacy IT and reluctance to pay or allow for sufficient maintenance window to upgrade.

BAE exec decision is typically around cost usually. This I hear from both DXC and BAE architects

Airlnk on BAE is a big example with the DXC project handover to run being terrigle. Servers which werent fit for purpose never passed ORR and no out of hours support because the old hosting lead refused to let his team be burdened with the utter cr@p that was that service so project staff had to be asked to support

Towers = are a subset of the technological services. E.g Networks or Hosting.

At the moment DXC have them all but BAE are now inviting other suppliers to tender. So far Capgemini is all but definitely a done deal with service desk (formalities at this point). DXC are keeping hosting (is this something to do with the difficulty of moving that tower to another supplier perhaps?).

The rest is being bid on now. It's a couple of years away from happening.

Can you guys d-mb this down for us outside the company? What is a tower vendor. When you say some one is bidding for the buisness is it DXC's BAE network buisness? or just the BAE contract?

This is going to be a complete car crash. How do you TUPE Networks, specifically for BAE, when most of us are leveraged and working at 150%!

For example, if you have a team of 3, do you TUPE 2 employees, leaving one to support all other accounts??

Oh no i hope its not TUPE im enjoying extra free holidays in DXC, BAE Network Managers wont be as supportive.

Prefer to stay as is in DXC Networks, sure i would like a raise but im ok money wise after the AT&T years, so happy with the free DXC holidays, also saves on the taxes.

Not another TUPE. Give me VR FFS!

We were lucky moving to and from AT&T. Can’t see any future TUPE terms being in anyone’s favour!

Care to share the bidders for networks ?

There's a lot more than that. Networks alone have about five or six different bidders.

Atos is out of the running now due to financial troubles.

For two years apart from desk nobody is going anywhere

Even if you tupe, you won’t be going to BAE, you’re going to the new tower vendors. Cap, Atos, DXC, and there’s another one too.

I think we'd be better off leaving and being rehired at market rate than transferring on same pay and benefits. BAE pay their staff based on grades with contractual increases and bonuses. The only thing you'd loose is continuous service.

Not yet but the only thing they are keeping is Hosting. Every other tower including service desk is going.

TUPE for the service desk?

DXC have not lost any other BAE business!

Generally yes, but will depend on the specific area/function you sit in

Lol no. Continue with your mandatory training and fill in your timesheets, whilst our execs soak up the salary increases and bonuses..
