Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

I wish I could quit

I know people are happier when they leave, but I'm too scared to do it. A former coworker found a new job for lower pay, but he's overjoyed. He keeps telling me how the stress is finally gone and how he can enjoy his free time again. Even hearing that, I can’t find the courage to quit. There are too many unknowns for me to just walk away, even if I line up something else. I feel stuck in this hellhole.

This doesn’t make any sense. So you’re saying even if you found another job, you are too afraid to leave? It’s just a job. Apply for other ones while still employed here, that way you aren’t in a rush and just take the first thing you are offered. And then put in your notice and leave. The sooner you realize it’s just a job and they don’t care about you, the better off you’ll be.

@3zak+1voJZFlV...Thats if they give a bonus next year. I handed in my resignation this morning. I have no other job offers at this time but I am at peace with my decision.

I quit back in June. Is ironic that people at Elevance “Health” stay in an “unhealthy” environment. That place is literally ki-ling you slowly.

I did it. I just quit. Nothing else lined up, and that seemed better than being beaten down every single day. I am 1000% happier. My anxiety has subsided, I can sleep, and enjoy my kids and life again. I was miserable far too long and allowed Elevance to take up too much space in my head. I am worth it - my health is worth it.

I have been here for over a decade and I am quitting on Monday. The stress here is a ki-ler. Best wishes to those who choose to stay.

100% with you. We have to remind ourselves that comfort can be a prison. I am plotting my way to happiness w pay to earn decent living. It’s a struggle and I am not fully there but I cannot let this place destroy my personal happiness… Good luck to paving your way…

I’ve been here almost a decade and I feel this. Who is gunna pay me what I’m making now? Probably nobody. Taking a paycut just doesn’t seem feasible in this economy. I have keeping my feelers out there, but taking that steps is the most difficult. Most of us are comfortable and don’t want to adjust to new changes, so it’s definitely challenging.

I'm with you. It's a terrible feeling, especially for someone that has been here for quite a while.

You're right, too many unknowns to just walk away. It's not easy to just grab another job either. If it was, there would be a mass exodus from Elevance. Just the thought of trying to look at multiple companies, with multiple rounds of interviews per company, is also a terrible feeling.
