Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

Why have posts been removed?

Says a lot about the backbone of a once proud company. A few hard truths and the spineless masters kick and scream at the feedback. Sums up the rabble that is now pretty much a dictatorship.

@3xsd+1vDHEmxY How about reposting this gem then:

I came across this post while browsing, and even though I haven't worked for Refinitiv, it perfectly resonates with my experience working with (guess who) at an investment bank and his narcissistic traits-constant need for control, validation, and lack of empathy-reminded me of Lord Farquaad, obsessed with power while disregarding the impact on others. Interestingly, when managing up, he transforms, acting on the surface more like Samwise Gamgee-loyal, humble, and eager to please those above him.

To maintain control, he would deliberately hire or promote obedient individuals to create layers of management between himself and the rest of the team. However, when it came to his own image-such as delivering presentations to senior managers-he wouldn't hesitate to bypass those very layers, jumping 1-2 levels down to push people directly. This often resulted in 7 a.m. calls and weekend demands, completely disregarding his team's personal time. Be mindful: even if you picked up his calls, delivered under pressure, and received his "gratitude", the moment he no longer needs you, he won't hesitate to throw you under the bus. For him, you are only as good as your last email.

He frequently manipulated others, exploiting their efforts for his gain while never taking accountability for mistakes. His gaslighting tactics left people doubting their own experiences. Unfortunately, people like him don't change, and their insecurities often come at the expense of everyone else.

If you're dealing with him now:
• Be clear and firm about what behaviours you will and will not tolerate.
• Maintain your boundaries even if he attempts to push them.
• Remember, his behaviour is often more about his internal struggles than about you.
• Stay emotionally detached when he tries to provoke or belittle.
• Don't let him force you to resign and speak up! Raise your concerns directly with HR; don't trust his manager or the middle tier he has hired to shield himself.

Message to him:
If you're reading this and feeling defensive, take a moment to step back and reflect. This isn't about attacking you personally but highlighting behaviours that have impacted those around you. High standards and pressure are part of leadership, but how they're applied matters. So, calm down and remember it's just a job - don't ruin people's careers.

Doesn't matter if you name exact names or not, those can be figured out through linkedin and word of mouth. Hard to get away from the truth: The leadership group running workspace are legends for their underperformance and are leaning into overmarketing products because their ability to deliver is non-existent. Eventually customers and investors will realize this, and they will be moved out.

We can repost it just skipping the names. Once mentioning non ex-co you are at the risk of having your post removed. I believe there was a lot of valuable feedback in that deleted thread let’s bring it back, shall we?

There seems to be little rhyme or reason for the censorship. It would be useful to know what is deemed unacceptable, to whom, and why.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say dictatorship but clearly the upper management has pulled strings to delete the Workspace criticism.
