Furloughs

As expected Furloughs are making a comeback. 5 days per month starting April 12th. Involuntary or Voluntary. Who's planning on volunteering?

I've rejected voluntary furlough.... black sheep. Odd process where the top management in our location are excluded from mandatory furlough, but everyone else is forced to take it. Who in their right mind would sacrifice for a company that isn't willing to sacrifice for the employees now and then? Let's see if punishment/termination comes from saying no to voluntary furlough.

@3wqc+14fPofiK Wrong it is for hourly people too. If you are considered essential it is voluntary (but everyone best volunteer). Non essential you take a week off each month.

@3jdt+14fPofiK looks like the truth hurts, especially you since it specifically pertains to Sugarland boons like you, sitting behind your computer while plotting which of your “friends” to release next ! You’re the loser, milking the system while the real workers who swing the hammer are getting crushed. As for me? Nah I’m VERY good but thanks for your concern :)~

@3wqc+14fPofiK this is partially true. While I know a lot of hourly people didn't get for a load, I know a similar amount of hourly people that did. It really depends on the department, and how the executives demanded they furlough.

The furloughs are only for managers, executives, and salary. No hourly.
Even the voluntary furlough is really involuntary. No one has a choice. I do say it is not fair that everyone in the entire company are not sharing the unpaid days. Only salary are being forced to do it.
9-80s are out. They did not even work anyways, managers worked their normal 12 hour days while others just left at their normal 6 to 7 hours and then still took every other friday off.
Half the people never even came close to working 80 hours to earn their day off, they just abused it.

Depending on what your job is, that decides whether it is voluntary or mandatory. Our group is voluntary. But I wanted to take a whole week off so I could get unemployment. It is one or the other. Not both.

Thank about this OLP isn’t really taking a cut figure what 20% of his salary is then look at what his bonus and incentives are plus any stock options, which is set where they are sold at set price if market is lower than set price and he still made salary plus

Rosharon will have it. Most likely applicable to all. But 9/80 is definitely on the talks to be removed

I want to see someone comment on the OLP video on why their Furlough is 20% when the majority of us will be a 25% reduction. Come on some one do it.

@1leh+14fPofiK.... One of the embarrassing Scchlumbots cheerleaders who comment on the home page.... to quote 'we are all the Schlumberger family', 'great initiative Olivier a great vision" etc. You' engineers have not done well over the last ten YEARS, apart from destroying manufacturing companies and protecting your backsides... smell the coffee and when your a– gets kicked into the real world you will find that your talent for 5S and Blue visions are not needed and you will need to generate profit for the company and not your self-serving PIPs.

Hold on a minute did I just read a post that said as engineers and leaders need to turn company around??? If engineers are supposed to lead company back we all better run for the hills!!! As someone that had to deal with them from time to time, if you didn’t figure out how to fix what they screwed up and tell them how to fix it it would never get done!! Oh you had to tell them so they could go back to office and then come out and take credit for fixing it!! We ARE SCREWED!!!!!

Maybe a Thank-you as many companies are just flat out dropping people

Then figure out how the most dynamic and smart company in the world becomes a dominant force again

Let’s figure this out as engineers and leaders how to make keep this company great and make it stronger/better when we come out

We got this, we can do this...we are the best.

Our journey, our reason is to make the world better through our services...people don’t see what we do, what we create...they just get to reap the rewards.

We are Schlumberger for a reason...our calling is to make the world better and it is exactly what we will do

All my love to all...greatness is not given it’s earned. Time for all of us from top to bottom to once again prove why we are the best and will continue to be the best!

I’ve seen it before furlough for workers vol. and mand. Then when extra money available for unemployment is about over or is over they will layoff all they have to so they can make there bonuses and get padded on back. People first!!!! BS

The voluntary is on top of the mandatory, not instead.

Furloughs don’t help. Only solution is massive and permanent layoffs.

The comments under OLPs video are hilarious and sad at the same time. So many people thanking him for his “noble decision” to take a temporary 20% pay cut. Meanwhile the involuntary furlough is 5 days per month which is effectively a 25% pay cut for everyone... So thanks for taking less of a cut than everyone else even though it hurts you the least.

OLP isn't sharing the pain. He's giving impression of sharing the pain. His 20% is only for a few months.

Exec PIPs are 1.5x their salary, 80% of which was achieved.

G11 PIPs are 0.2x of their salary, and how much of it was achieved? And how much of that was individual objectives / under their control? And if instead they're all shared team/group objectives, how come nobody achieved 80% of them like the execs did?

Don't lump G11+ with the management layer.

The announcement said that ppl will be notified in writing if they are chosen to participate in either mandatory (probably hourly and/or Field including FE/FS) or voluntary furlough. Have seen some negative comments about the executive pay cuts. While I agree that comp is very top heavy (Field bonuses nearly elminated while G11+ PIPs are never scaled back), let's keep in mind that the 20% is a lot more than what we saw during the PK regime. OLP at least seems to have some understanding that the pain needs to be shared.

They say for at least the 2nd quarter starting on April 12th... so that's 10weeks.... 15days for mandatory or 10days for involuntary.
