Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Town hall request for questions

Is anyone really going to submit questions from their work email that actually get to the issues?

They say they want open and honest discussion, but that sure looks like a trap to me.

You want honest discussion, make an anonymous poll ev.

When companies spiral into decline, management gets desperate and tries all sorts of crazy things, hoping anything works. The whole industry is in a downward spiral and we are leading the way.

@4goe, you're confusing MW's Chevron 2023 (in decline, no clear forward strategy, fascination with social engineering, low morale) with D O'R's Chevron, say 2007, which was growing, had a laser-sharp strategy, career development as a core asset, and employees steeped in Chevron Way who were genuinely interested in the Company's success as they shared in that success. I really doubt any 2007 employees would be inclined to "whoop" anything - they would have too much respect for their leadership (another thing lost in 2023).

@3vxi Today he would try that stuff once; and after that we would whoop his as$.

Come on, sit right here old man... See how you like these hands.

"love their shareholders more": Sr. Management compensation is tied to that of the shareholders more than that of lower level employees, and they love getting more money.

Heck, every few months DJO used to wander into the SR cafeteria with his tray of food and sit down at a table with employees for a chat while eating his tuna sandwich. You could ask him anything but watch out because he gave as good as he got. A lot of people were scared he might sit with them tbh.

I'd like to know if they just hate their workforce or love their shareholders more.

D O'R used to run town halls live and in front of hundreds of people. He used to walk the room and talk to random employees before the start of the meeting. MW orchestrates his town halls to look like Busby Berkeley productions (look that one up) with only a contrived sense of honesty and sincerity.

The EOY 2023 CTC town hall is probably the reason it is asked this way this time. EB got some tough questions then and was not able to provide good answers. It was so bad that the company decided not to post the recording of that town hall as they traditionally do. MW got also uncomfortable at the last earnings call because the analysts questions were tough and persistent. Our leaders are not willing to be transparent, and admit when they don’t know or be honest and let employees decide for themselves what to think about the state of the company, it’s leadership, and what could be the right next move for them. I am not interested in watching MW town hall because I won’t get relevant information to me.

Don't bother submitting your "questions". All the "questions" have already been decided on by Legal and HR, and will be planted on stooge employees (or high-pots, tough to tell the difference).

Question - After many years of lying to employees on a constant basis how do you get employees to trust managment?
Question - Is management required to abide by Chevron policies and procedures or only non supervisors?
Question - Why does management ask for feedback and then reject all feedback received?

I've been working in this industry for a long time and have been through the ups and downs. Leadership isn't interested in your tough questions, ideas and certainly not complaints. If you make a big enough fuss, you'll get on their radar screen which is exactly what you don't want. Remember the adage: Don't go to the King unless he calls for you.

Stand up, identify yourself, and ask how and why leadership is so breathtakingly awesome and fantastic.
You’ll go far.

I know firsthand, they purposely choose random employees and assign them questions to ask. They like to give the impression that these are "off the cuff" questions at the meeting, but they're definitely not.

You can ask your question here, it's anonymous.

If you don't have the ba--s to ask a question using your name, don't hide behind PollEV. Never have been a fan of it. You should have enough emotional intelligence to know how to ask tough questions.

Oh, don’t fall for this “front”………They will still use planted questions that they deem as “politically correct” and dance around the real issues……….and thus they will use this facade as testimony to the troops that we “asked for your tough questions and answered them”. And afterwards they will look each other in the eyes and say….”that went really well and we did a good job….let’s pat ourselves on the back as the leaders of this company and go celebrate”……pu-e.
