Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Exiting Russia, laying off 4,000 staff there?

https://dxc.com/us/en/about-us/newsroom/press-releases/03042022

"we are no longer pursuing business in Russia and have committed to exit this market. We have approximately 4,000 colleagues in Russia"

Sounds like 4,000 Russian employees are getting laid off.

Luxoft was acquired a few years back, wasn't that a Russian company originally? Might have a large impact there.

@3sqt+1fBCthKP Mike 1 purchased Luxoft 3 years ago to expand its global core consulting business. It's primarily a Russian business with hubs in Ukraine and other areas. The purchase resulted in DXC alienating themselves from the western defence sectors, clients, agents, and affiliates.

@sail in the storm

Who is going to buy a Russian asset? From dxc or any other western company dumping assets in Russia...

And how are they going to pay for it?

Basically these assets are junk.

Luxoft was quite an expensive but valuable asset, expect the share price to dive.

I never knew luxoft was a Russian company, DXC should have never been involved with them

@3btl+1fBCthKP - Very interesting to see what further action US President (along with EU & UK) does to punish Russia even further - could include tariffs on their good, their services, including IT services, etc and this likely to have big impact on DXC.

It's very hard, costly and takes time to get another location (outside Russia) up and ready to take over from Russia, also Putlin likely to retaliate as well, possibly hitting US company.

The best option for DXC is to sell Luxoft asap - boosting their share price in short term and offloading potential liability.

Hard to say if that statement is about luxoft or not.

There were other operations based in Russia too.

Wonder if the ceo of luxoft will get canned... Oh hang on, no, he lives in Switzerland.
