Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Restructure the management

If this company was truly concerned about the salary costs they would have restructured management by now. Most front line employees are either 6 to 8 layers of management from the CEO each level salaries grow grossly out of control as you go up that ladder. The middle management of this company could be completely changed out, numbers lowered, and salaries cut and we would be better off... I am talking about directors to SVPs.. I can only name a handful that have these titles and are worth a $hit... Flush them out! They are hurting you more than anything. Most of them honestly believe they have a shot to climb the ladder further. This misguided belief creates and very hostile environment. Back stabbing shadey dealings and redundancies abound! This bloated management is created by the fragmentation of groups. Which creates the "not enough Indians" vibe I have read on here too many times. As you have so much management overhead it leaves noting for the group, while if the groups shared resources you wouldn't have that feeling, and I promise you the divide between operations and engineering would be gone and $h!t would GET FIXED! Restructureing of Management should be a requirement before any further front line employees get laid off...

Well the over- paid higher ups aren’t getting paid either. No raise again this year. I was told things are tight and just be glad you have a job. I can’t argue we are management heavy and I see lower levels of Local managers just collecting pay checks until their next gig. Basically just here to approve time sheets.

Gain skills to get a job elsewhere if you don't like it.” Already left this company Just like so many other talented people did...the biggest problem today in the business world is there is no loyalty...the ones left behind are either milking the company dry and or cannot afford to abandon this sinking ship!

Wow, that is the most depressing thing I have ever heard.

It's a business, it's primary function is to generate a profit and create long-term value for shareholders, not a job for you. The minute your job can be automated, it will be. Rightfully so. Why would I pay you to do something (and likely make mistakes), when I can program a computer to do it without making any. Those "over-paid higher ups" get let go when they don't perform.

Windstream owes you no loyalty, nor do you owe it any loyalty. Employer loyalty doesn't exist anymore. Gain skills to get a job elsewhere if you don't like it.

Did you say you have the clap...there are people who care...it’s the ones who have dedicated their lives to this company...it’s the ones who actually cared about our customers...it’s the ones that would work with their co-workers to provide world class service...oh I forgot Windstream and their current regime have lost this insight...perhaps you need to go elsewhere Mr. Clap!

I agree with everybody. You have managers, who have managers, who have mangers, etc. For example, in my department we have supervisor, staff manager, director, vice president, and then a vice president over him. They need to get rid of the staff manager, and one of the vice presidents. It just seems appropriate. We never even had a staff manager until one was moved over. I believe that each team needs a lead, and then a supervisor.

The Charlotte office is not hiring new people at all, and positions are getting cancelled. They are not replacing these workers at all, but the managers remain. We are getting rid of so many valuable workers to keep some managers who spend all day online shopping, and a person from little rock who all day just uploads things on stream. They are outsourcing financial services to Dominican Republic, and Jamaica is now taking 30% of all customer service calls.

They will not get rid of ILEC, just the people who work for ILEC. I have applied for other positions with other companies. I love Windstream, but this is getting ridiculous. I need to have a steady job, and not be so concerned about what will happen very Thursday.

Peter principal is in full effect most of this idiot clown managers would not be in their positions at a competent company. Most shouldn't be in charge of getting the tolets cleaned... They would screw that up, and argue that the layers of p!ss and sh!t are the new automated cleaning processes or that we are going green... That of course they saved $0.02 cents per line item budget dollar versus last year that means they should be rewarded with a $0.10 per line item dollar bonus.. screw this company. People get out while you can...
