Oh and the female coworker that was out with the staff manager was married as well.
I had the highest knowledge of just about anyone on my team when I got booted. Those guys didnt know the CLI or how anything operated besides their scripts. but I was not in the clique and they really tried hard to get me fired for other reasons (HR shut this down) after I ran into the staff manager out on the town with a female coworker who later i learned got promoted to manager under him. and this guys wife already worked at windstream.

Seriously, those are the people they promote to meaningless management jobs
Has anyone seen someone get laid off that was needed? I’ve honestly never seen anyone that was needed get booted.
@ Hey, country people matter, too!
I know that xDSL has a limit and I'm sure you're well past that.
If you don't have broadband you are SOL. You'll have to wait for Elon and Starlink.
"My point exactly. Who uses a landline to work on a PC. Some people are still stuck from 25 years ago and can't change."
In some Windstream rural areas, there's either no Windstream broadband or it's pathetic. There's no cell service either.
The people that live there are still stuck from 25 years ago, thanks to the incumbent. They would like to change, though.
Some Windstreamers love TT and will never leave. Good for you, make the best out of an absolutely terrible situation. I would rather have job security and actual health benefits for my family. But some prioritize things differently.
I Love my job here at Windstream! I know what to do if and when the time comes I should get laid off. Yes there's a lot of extra work due to the layoffs. I'll be able to get a new job plenty of jobs. I know a people who have been laid off and scored a job with better pay better health insurance etc. I don't mind the extra work. I like being busy .Yes it's challenging at times. I'm super grateful to be working through the pandemic. Good luck at your new job it sounds amazing. Wink wink.
@3iiw+17fw8gK7 My point exactly. Who uses a landline to work on a PC. Some people are still stuck from 25 years ago and can't change.
"Most people don't have a landline anymore"
What planet are you from? You can get a softphone installed on a pc for free. If you need an analog adapter for your house they are like $20. I pay $50/year for unlimited voice.
Your career is an investment in YOU!
@3qzg+17fw8gK7 most remote jobs require certain hardware/PC and a landline. Most people don't have a landline anymore, and either don't own a PC or have a MAC. Big investment for a job search
As the option to work remote expands across companies the competition will only be so much greater given anyone can now apply and not just a certain geographic area.
Lots of remote work is now available thanks to the pandemic.
@oye+17fw8gK7 My question is and yours should be. What if Windstream shut down? Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. I certainly wish you and your family the best. I'm just saying think about it and be prepared to provide. No harm at all from me. I thought I would retire there but I made a conscious decision to leave. No more No less. Good luck.
Why the hell are you even on this site if your new job is that fantastic? Yes, it is not a prison but some of us live in a rural area and cant commute 2 hrs each way or just pack up and move. So we stay. So please go brag somewhere else or on the site of your great new employer
nice if there is comparable work in your area. Not true for everyone
