Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Stop working so hard

Working harder or in your own time is not going to save you. Most of those laid off in 2020 were high performers who in the eyes of leadership…..made too much money..
You are just a cog in their money game…
Stop working so hard. Let the claims pile up….Let the customers continue to rush for the exits…
Focus on you…because at the end of the day, that is the only person at Allstate that cares about YOU..
Working hard will only get you the great Benefit that Allstate gives of…..more work…..

I was let go in 2020- and quite literally on the day before the layoff (that was already pushed twice due to how busy it was) they had me INTERVIEW to stay in my position. And offered a raise. I stayed on thinking I would reach a tenure mark for higher 401k vest… one person said I would continue on and be at that goal. Welp, I was still waiting to hear from potential employer- and we were in the early pandemic- so I said yes… then was told that my tenure started over! Started over!? YEARS and they started my time over and my retirement goal was just…. I’m still pi---d at myself.

Which made it even easier to quit after hearing from that potential employer about a week later- best feeling in the world. Knowing Shapiro and people with him thought these cuts would be smooth transition.

I wasn’t in claims. And my department was slaughtered, and the people that stayed suffered because they were thinking they could get rid of the agency channel. D-mbest thing I had, and still have, ever heard.

Happily with a new company that supports agencies, underwriting, claims and more. 5 raises in- and not afraid to ask questions, or make a mistake. Life is wonderful.

Thank you, Allstate, for allowing a CEO to create a s@-t show circus. All that stress for the months and months you lead us on- and not being able to find a job at the beginning of 2020- oh man, shows that the grass is greener on any other side. To anyone in UW- y’all can get any job with other large companies- the know allstates training is actually really good. Run!

Claims true colors are shining through. You are pathetic. The reality is that your department has been acting like this for years. No great loss to lose clowns like you

The best way that you can “service your customer” is to let them know that there are lower priced carriers who will service them better. Every call that Ibtake during the day is a complaint from a customer, body shop or attorney asking why the delay….
…..so I honestly and truthfully tell them…

Don’t put in any extra time. Don’t join any office committees thinking it will impact your raise. You may get another .25% when push comes to shove. Prioritize mental health and wellness. I saw far too many great people and workers get canned in 2020 with reasoning that still can’t be explained. The company attempting to put a video game and personality test as reasoning is unbelievable. I’ve left the company but I don’t think anyone ever took responsibility for 2020 or even apologized how short staffed it left us.

I tell my customers that they should leave Allstate if they want real customer service. I do my best to service them but strongly recommend that they leave this sh@@ho-e where they are overpaying for what they get.
I share our staffing issues. I share the number of weeks they will wait for a reinspection. I tell them what happened in 2020 and what is happening now.
I refuse to give them bad service but I will also not hide the s@@t that is Allstate both for employees…..and customers..
