Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Exclusive Agents Allstate is YOUR competition

With the 2500 agents they are hiring through 2021, 500 are planned to be in place by years end. These agents will sell Allstate P&C products with the renewals being rolled into Allstate. Unless you are allowing your agents to work from home, set their own hours and are paying them $200-$300 for every policy sold you will have a hard time finding and keeping staff. Allstate is calling this an Independent Allstate Agent Opportunity or Solo Agent. The candidate profile recruiters are being told to target for hires are Uber and Lyft drivers. If internal recruiters can’t find these agents money will be spent to hire LOTS of contractors. Allstate is a sh@t show

you must be in an area where dealerships working are an actual thing, in the region I am in and the regions I have friends in they are dropping faster than they can start them, I think a few regions haven't even had new dealerships start in nearly 2 years.

I saw the IAA goal sheet and progress sheet today, they are so far behind it isn't even funny and did you hear the max amount they can make, something like 69K a year if they work their butt off, I guess it used to be 83K but then the company did some adjustments to cut it down, I guess very few are biting at doing it full time.

@3jhh+17e6VS5H Dealerships are purchasing agencies. Have been and continuing to process the “paperwork” for them. My husband is working on the 2500 IAA’s project it’s no marketing gimmick they really think/want those in place by the end of 2021. Laughable but true.

@2sco+17e6VS5H Here is some inside information, dealerships aren't buying up agencies, it turns out that thought was nice but overall they aren't doing much business, many regions are losing more dealership agencies than there are starting, those IA agents don't do much at all either it is pretty sad, I wouldn't count on the 2500 IAA agents to be more than a publicity stunt.

They will keep the EA’s pricing will continue to get higher and bonus plan will continue to get tougher and be driven by life sales. Think Farmers and Liberty and earning 8/8

Between auto dealerships buying up agencies, the 2500 independent agents and National General business being absorbed by either independent agents/Allstate in house EA’s are clearly being squeezed out.

To compete with Geico and Progressive they will need to follow a similar approach, meaning no franchises and no brick and mortar agencies. I can’t imagine the agents will take this well. I will pull up a chair and bring my snacks to see the bloodbath that ensues. The agents won’t be as easy to obsolete as the legacy employees.

I am a recently laid off FDS working on this mess. No one wants to work 100% commission and pay $400 a month out of pocket for equipment rental and purchasing leads through Allstate. The “training” for those of us working this was vague at best with the trainers unable to answer the most basic questions. I’ve never been so happy to get the hell away from a company in my life.

I saw this and asked a friend of mine in sales if he know anything about this and there is some truth to the post, he is one of those interviewing the candidates to see if they will bring them on, they are looking for 500 by the end of the year and want an additional 2000 more by end of 2021. A staff working for an agent cannot be with Allstate for 6 or 12 months before going in the program. The pay is UP TO 200 or 300 but they have to hit sales goals to make that much. The info that was sent to me show they are behind as many of the people looking have received layoff notices. They are not looking for uber drivers, quite the opposite they are supposed to find people with a sales background, and from what info they have the close ratio is not great for them getting sales. The problem they are running into is it is all commission only, many are going to the agencies since they will pay base and commission with larger agencies offering benefits.
