Thread regarding Nokia Corp. layoffs

Layoffs in SoC ?

There are rumors spreading over MN SoC organization that due new strategy of CEO custom silicon is dead end and HW designers will be laid off, nvidia will be sole silicon provider.
Anyone knows something ? All of this seems unreal…

After partnering with Tesla to make AI chips for EV, Nvidia is now going to make it's own AI EV chips to sell to Tesla's competitors. Same with happen with AI-RAN.

@3hw The way I see it is, Nokia sold itself to Nvidia for $1Billion. If those working at Google can't shut off it's own AI or can't figure out the self generating AI algorithms or are no longer able to be fast enough to understand the code AI generates, do you think it will take long for AI to learn how the existing 4G/5G code works and apply it to 6G and do a much better job with it by applying its own standards? AI is moving faster than humans can think. As chips become more advance, the issue of power hungry chips will get resolved and cost per chip will be reduced. That's not going to be much of a problem in the future, but the biggest problem will be, which country will control the entire telecommunication system of the world. The country that wins the AI race and the Quantum race or When AI becomes an entity.

@OP It seems ridiculous. Nvidia GPU cost an arm and a leg? CSPs won't pay for that extra cost and are very sceptical about businesses paying them for AI activity. It seems like it is a fairly inexpensive vanity project for Nvidia to give $1B which is like you and me paying the Starbucks barista a $10 tip. Nokia would be well served not to put all its eggs in the GPU basket. But maybe I am wrong?
