Job tips after a layoff

For those needing some job tips after a layoff, I ran into this today. Frankly, I like the fact that it's not an article but answers from other employees, so it's more relevant, in my opinion.

Anyhow, it's a short but good read.

There was a whole host of reasons why people were fired. Management layers were eliminated. Others were on a list as problematic, and a mass layoff cycle is is a good way to give Mgmt and HR litigation cover. There were also superstars who were laid off. One guy who had a major hand in developing our publishing system was laid off. I was talking to an engineer who was struggling to pick his brain (30 years of experience) in 2 days.

Unless you’ve taking a look at the 3,000 employee profiles you’re just spouting off.

Underperformers and redundant people were targeted.

They did not (or maybe they did?) anticipate some long time productive employees to leave because of how the reorganization was handled.

This:

If it was truly a layoff, and not just more palatable than saying, “You’re fired,” then understand that your performance didn’t contribute to your departure from the company. This is key, as someone who loses their job will always face a crisis of confidence; knowing that it wasn’t you makes it easier to maintain self-confidence.
