Remote Layoffs once new RTO is implemented

Currently, quite a few fully remote workers are still with the company. Once they got rid of promotions/job growth for remote employees, it seemed like layoffs are imminent. What are the chances that remote employees are let go once RTO 2.0 starts in Feb?

@3hp what I heard is that if you are in a state without an office you will need to be.

@3hk Is that part of the previous 40 miles announcement and medical assessment review? At this point we will have rto5 and no exceptions.

I have heard rumors that come January they will announce that you must be able to come to office and if not you will need to move or lose job . Not sure if this is true but it's definitely being said.

Remote is already an easy target to reduce, and is already in flight. If remote, get to an office if you intend to stay.

Assuming the contractor team is working remotely, will they also be included in the cost-cutting layoffs, or is the transition to Gallos affecting only full-time employees

The vast majority (85%) of teams are in at least two locations. So they have to do everything virtually anyway. Why not allow a team member or two who is remote? It’s never really going to change.

Zero. There will not be a layoff for formal WFH employees. There may be managers who make remote workers miserable as that's a common thing, and they may tell remote workers lacking a medical exception that they're agreement is void, but a blanket layoff isn't the plan. What is needed is a smarter board who accepts remote workers.
