Word on the street is that more IT will be outsourced by year end. Nothing like trusting all of our data to make overseas call centers.

Laying off IT people doesn’t sounds like something a Software Powerhouse would do.

Funny how IT department has a big layoff and all of a sudden a virus is sent out in a firmware update knocking out thousands of modems.

@3qua+1paMtial,

What pure rubbish. Well not the part about corporations playing dirty to keep the worker bee in their place. The rest of what you said is illogical. You do not have to over work your staff to turn a profit. Look at McDonalds… the only workers stressed came to work stressed. They even pay pretty decent around me beating minimum wage by 25% on the low side and even more if you bother to manage one. Another store is costco. It’s possible you just lack vision.

I agree, and let’s face it, corporate America wants to shed their labor unions and their wages and benefits contracts. In today’s business environment, particularly in the service industry, you have to overwork/overstress your field force to make any meaningful long term profits. Same with all those average back office support IT people. Basically, the service worker has become a tool to manipulate and burn out, rinse and repeat. This concept is difficult sometimes for Amerikan workers to accept….reality…

Comes down to numbers. Sorry to be cold but ILEC Kinetic has been losing their a-s, too many salespeople and techs thrown at it while it's not a true growth division with the restrictions on the government money thrown at it. Meanwhile Wholesale/Enterprise/Field Ops infrastructure is ki-ling it numbers wise on what is already a a bare bones skeleton crew. Should anyone really be surprised a certain division of this company got hit with layoffs? I'm not saying it's anyone's fault..but it takes time to aquire new customers in an ILEC market and I just don't think we have the money to build out and wait for customers to come. I'm just guessing but I could see the ILEC being sold/merged for their assets, and wholesale/Enterprise/FTTT continuing as Windstream as it seems to be the actual cash cow..

Who are the spineless a-holes who keep doing thumbs down? Are u in management? Are you n the C suite? If you are, quit coming here we neither want or need your opinions. You keep telling everyone its all sunshine and lollipops when in reality you are in the conference room trying to figure out how to lay off more people to save your bonus (which NONE of you deserve). You get rewarded for screwing employees and making this company more worthless everyday. In most companies that would get you fired not a bonus.

Think about this. Tony has ben CEO since 2014. Stock was around $90 a share in 2014 and it only took him 5 years to direct the ship into bankruptcy. Before bankruptcy it was around $.54 cents in 2019. In what world or business does a person get a away with that. Anyone else would of been terminated immediately. Tony spoke about accountability before. Where's the accountability Tony? You do phony meetings and town halls where the answers and questions are rigged. You refuse to be honest with your employees, your managers, your customers,, and investors prior to that. His solution was to not take responsibility and place the blame elsewhere. Tony, you've been out of touch with reality for a long time and the people that are your directs are just as spineless because they won't be honest and they also place the blame instead of on themselves.
The answer of just laying off everyone under a VP or President to save money for your bonuses isn't the answer. Problem has always been with the poor leadership at the top. Tony and his directs are the problem. Always have been. They still refuse to acknowledge that as the issue so the answer is just layoff/out source and sell off the company in pieces in order to keep your bonuses coming in. Sure wish the Federal Gov would get involved or have someone expose whats been going on here. for almost 10 years.

Why is it we will not cut the dead weight in the layers and layers of useless management? There is no reason to keep 3 & 4 layers of management while getting rid of the ones doing the work. Yeah i am sure there are those that don't work too hard but when you lay off 1/2 to 3/4 of a dept it makes it so much worse on those left behind. We are still having to do our jobs and then have to do the work of the ones let go. Stop asking tony to explain because his give a sh-t broke a long time ago when he got his millions in bonuses. He's here till they let him go. There is no way they are keeping him because he is such a great leader. This company was doomed the day he took over.

As is typical, nobody wants to talk numbers or groups. I suppose upper management knows discussing layoffs is admission of their failure. Failed leadership, failed vision, failure to find the right people, failure to become a software powerhouse. But by golly, we're going to pivot, realign, and have a strong 4th quarter!

We know Kinetic lost field technicians in multiple states.

We know one manager in NW US on Enterprise got whacked. 23 positions in Enterprise & Wholesale, 9 of which are open positions, were eliminated. That means 14 people leaving due to inept leadership.

I'm hearing hundreds in sales across multiple divisions, but have no confirmation. Again, we don't talk about failures only pivots.

Two to three days of layoffs is big. This is the biggest single round of layoffs in over a year.

Might be making numbers look good for the proposed sale/auction of Wholesale.

Could just be cutting dead weight of people who aren't meeting sales numbers, but then ask why. Wrong customer base? Wrong product set? Tell us Tony. Tell the families of those sacrificed to your ineptness and greed.
