Thread regarding CDW layoffs

What's Everyone's Thoughts on the Olympics?

I think it is exciting for us to be a sponsor of Team USA, but I am very concerned about the cost and the fact we are three years away from the Olympics. According to Copilot, the lower end of that type of sponsorship is $50M.

Seems that is a significant investment, particularly with the declining sales and profitability we have seen in 8 of the last 9 quarters, the unknown impact of tariffs and the long-term concerns with the US and global economies. Last thing we want is another down quarter, potential layoffs and having a large investment with unknown returns on the books. It wasn't that long ago that a bonus we all thought we were getting didn't pan out.

From my POV, it's certainly a tremendous risk, but what does everyone else think?

You want to know how I feel?

Well, here you go:

This was just another d-mb, selfish, narcissistic, tone-deaf decision by CDW leadership. There is no way they didn't know that lay-offs were coming when they signed us up to sponsor the Olympics that don't happen until 2028.

Of course the decision-makers on this will get to attend the Olympics for free while 400 people lost their jobs.

There is just no accountability at the senior leadership level for the disaster they have made of a once great company.

@3dt yeah, let's adopt a strategy that was leading a ship to sink.....you guys are so far removed from what made CDW great it's sad really. And the results the last two years are indicative of that.

(Ex ISA that's glad s/he/they/them found greater pastures)

@OP By 2028 it will be the "New" CDW. It's not by coincidence that Bain & Co. Is now involved- major organizational reengineering will be in full swing over the next 24 months resulting in a focus on services that it sees as part of a longer term strategy. I would also expect some potential internal consolidation and spin offs of certain initiatives.

@ac If somebody got 1% it's because that Team's leader reallocated those $ to give somebody else above the 4% that pooled dollars allocate for.

@jb I think the reality is that CDW wanted Sirius's business strategy, customers, and technology, but really has no interest in retaining it's employees.

@ac If you and your team are only getting 1% it's because they really want your team to leave, just not all at once. Each Director is allocated dollars based on what a straight percentage of an increase for all salaries in the unit would be (say 3.5 to 4%) and then he/she allocates those out based on individual contribution and perceived merit/value to business goals. Giving someone one percent says "yeah you're meeting the job requirements but we really want you to leave.

It’s actually mind blowing. I thought we were an “all weather team” navigating uncertainty in the market and that’s why we don’t get our holiday bonus and that’s why they cut our commissions year after year and that’s why they did multiple rounds of layoffs in the past 5 years. That’s why we are all on this website because we have been through so many lay offs. But now we have money to blow on team USA sponsorship? It hasn’t been a secret that this place does not care about their employees but this is next level. I bet the sponsorship will line our shareholders and executives pockets rather nicely.

For EBO, this whole thing sounds like more work for no additional money or headcount.

Census all over again, but possibly worse.

And our benefits are waaaaay to expensive. Just ask your friends at other companies what they pay for family benefits and compare. It is much too high for a company of our size.

@jb

They have no incentive to pay a fair salary so nothing will ever change. Of course Leahy and all the other executives pay themselves handsomely.

It just goes to show the money is there to better reward workers but they just choose not to do so.

This is so true! CDW not only is below market, but doesn't value their coworkers. I'm a Sirius legacy employee and my pay was cut by hundred of thousands. My workload has increase and now getting paid less. No consideration for the years I've been with the company. My pay cut took me back over six years and all the hard work and dedication I've given to this company went poof! Like it didn't even mean anything.
CDW leadership should be ashamed with how they're treating their coworkers and should invest more value in the employees that keep your company going. CDW should be paying at or over market rate and put more value in who they have now and the talent that's considering CDW as their next place of employment. Other Sirius legacy employees who had their pay drastically cut since the acquisition, let your voice be heard on this post. Maybe, someone from the top level at CDW will actually listen, care and start valuing their employees.

I think it’s disgusting when coworkers are being paid below the market rate and when it comes to pay increases, they can only afford 1%.
