Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Such A Bummer

Yes, EH will be great but tough to look at stock in the 70’s and bear tough financial reports for the foreseeable future.
Electing JD to lead for so long and taking our focus off product was such a huge impactful mistake.
Our stock should have split again by now and instead we’ll be seeing our relatives rocking adidas and other brands this Christmas. No requests for Nike gear or passes this year.
Thanks BOD

@3cwv+1w8QwTDE Really wouldn’t say some roles are “subordinate” if they aren’t connecting directly with athletes and customers. We are a brand, not a retailer, which takes multiple teams to get it done.

Don’t tell me factories and PCC are subordinate just because they aren’t on the front lines. Not only is this simplicity and arrogant, it’s the antithesis of the partnership mindset which Nike prides itself on for decades

How does a job or role or team directly impact the business? If can’t define that then is a role/team that either needs to go or be made subordinate to teams that do directly work with and impact business goals. Too many teams making fiefdoms and unrealistic declarations of how things should be - holding back the folks & teams that’ll get sh-t done. What’s the priority? Connecting with Athletes and Customers —- do it then. Any team not working directly on this is subordinate to those that do. Not saying some supporting roles aren’t important, but we have too many chiefs and not enough clarity on what’s important. Is it really Athletes and Customers? If so, then let’s goooooooo!!!!

Honestly I think EH is extracting as much as he can out of this team while he weighs and finds the right fits for replacement. Quick decisions here could be the wrong ones, and my guess is it will come over the next year and be a bit more graceful transitions but not be so immediate it sends everything for another jolt.

Couldn’t agree more with poster below. Need to clean house of current leaders. JD wasn’t the only issue. Very disappointing so few leadership changes have been announced thus far.

EH was made CEO 4 years too late. He looks likes the second coming of Jack Welch after the hatchet job JD did but in reality he’ll be more like MJ on the wizards.. moves still look but just quite not the same and the surrounding oh OK I’ll marry those in a few talent isn’t as great.

My CEO experience is limited to running a lemonade stand in SW Portland in the 90’s but even I know that you’ll only go as far as the talent on your team (which is why I had to layoff my little sister in ‘98.. rough year).

EH you need to clean house at the top.. too many rent seeking leaders more vested in empire building than actuallly leading. Too many LinkedIn influencers who measure their success in likes instead of growth. They only speak in bullet points and spend all day reveiwing decks which shows they don’t truly know the business.

eh is horrible and I don't understand why everyone is treating him like he's god.

CS or HON should have been named next ceo!
