Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

CEO

So if BP is a terrible CEO why did another Blues plan or any insurance company hire him as their CEO? Rumor is the board here even forced him out- So why was he hired for the same position or any position? Not taking up for him-just curious

@36k Possibly the MD legislators, however, BP is good friends with the Governor. The last time CF was about to be acquired, EVERYONE on the inside of CF knew that merger was going through, up to the night before. Then, the MD legislation pulled the rug out and voted it down. To say complete and utter shock would be an understatement and I believe that was the end of Bill Jews.

Or how ‘bout to continue the mission of an acquisition/merger of CareFirst.
And he’s the Chairman of the Board at the BCBS Association. Who would dare tell him no to a job he wanted?

He didnt even show up for his last town hall as a CEO. Interim seems like a nice guy, much more relatable and funny.

@OP When you walk the walk and talk the talk it takes a long time to finally realize you are full of it.

@jp regardless of what you think of BP’s results or leadership he is an exceptional public speaker and probably a great salesperson. Lots of people find him very sincere. A smaller number think he comes across as mix of used car salesman and old school preacher, with a large dose of Do as I say, not as I do mixed in.

When we look at his results though - the DC and MD government business ideas were failures by any measure. Leadership is more subjective but at least in my circle of associates most are unimpressed. His hiring choices have been mixed with some stand out poor choices, DK is the best example. Even what seem to be his better choices have had limited effectiveness.

The same reason everyone in the world is able to find a job after getting fired. You put together a great resume of everything you’ve done, then knock their socks off in the interview. I think everyone would agree that Brian is the KING of blowing smoke up everyone’s a-s. He used his strengths to his advantage.

Same way all these ELT losers get hired.....they lie their as--s off on their resumés bragging about all their "accomplishments" and ways they saved a company millions of dollars, when all they really did was leave a path of destruction in their wake. That's why they skip out before the destruction is fully realized. I blame the board for letting this get completely out of hand.
