Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

UK DXC/FDS Redundancies

Out of the 94 UK redundancies announced by DXC partner company FDS, looks like they are only getting rid of people on shorter service. A colleague who volunteered with long service has just been rejected. So if you are a new started, on a low salary etc, looks like your going despite there being volunteers who actually want to go!

Next Stage will no doubt be DXC itself shedding staff, but they won't formally announce it yet as its too close to the latest earnings call, and the share price is already in the bin.

Good luck to all who are about to be given their marching orders.

I was tempted to put in for VR but who would look after my account? 27 years of working there (only 12 years being outsourced, I know hundreds, if not thousands of staff across Europe, from maintenance engineers to the ceo! But that doesn't pay the bills

FDS did not reach their goal of 94 VRs.
They have now reacted by replying to long term applicants and saying that they have now got their wish.
Seems as if the top level of FDS are su-king Slavo's plums or taking a great big brown envelope.
The Bar Stewards are scr**ing us over.

I will refer to my other recent thread

" To my former fellow ex FDS, CSC / DXCites, do not think you are stuck there. There is always an opportunity to move on. Consider dusting off / rebuilding your CV and getting out there on LinkedIn and other job search platforms. I did this and was lucky enough to get out, you can do the same. Just for the love of god don't say "I'm leaving because DXC is bad" in your interview, I've heard so many make this mistake.

If you need, take advantage of the current dearth in staffing to internally swap roles and get the training/experience you need, then move on. ITO and Workplace are desperate for more staff, and if you need to self study you can pick up a cheap SFF Optiplex PC and install your favourite Linux / Windows Server OS for that Unix / Wintel experience.

If you work on the BAE account, look at working for the client. They practically snap up competent DXC staff because they know how the operation works and know they can't be fooled by DXC fibbing. I know people who have gone on to become successful Service Managers, Architects, Project Managers and App SMEs working for the client direct. Same for Leonardo and Urenco, they have ex DXC Project Managers and Architects working closely with them.

Above all else, stop dumping on each other. MSPs may ultimately just be a sweatshop to maximise gains for minimal input but DXC is an especially terrible shop in this regard in that, unlike other places, the apathy and lack of involvement from mid-upper leadership is apparent. You have alternatives; Littlefish, Capgemini, Capita, ATOS all have a ton of ex DXC staff and work in the same spaces. Or as I said before, look at working for a smaller shop or with the client direct. We all deserve better, and know who the deadwood is. Don't be angry at people who got good terms & salary in their contracts be angry at the company. Don't be a crab in a bucket pulling each other down"

Take a look for yourself, these are prime for ex DXC staff to step in:

FDS UK fiscal year ends on the 31st of March. If you are going to be layed off, it will be announced around February time. Start looking now if you think it's coming.

Things must be bad if some of the FDS management have put in for VR.
I wonder what they know that has not been cascaded down to the shop floor.

Short service means short Payouts , how do you not understand this. We can save over 5 million if we get rid of Mary Finch !

Well if the business is not doing well, obviously there is no option.

Are there separate pools, or are they WFRing people from pools with volunteers who are being rejected?
