Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Massive Layoffs

As everyone knows, massive layoffs are coming. The first will occur with the shut down of Talent Connection and arrive in late June to early/mid July.

October will represent another bloodbath.

High estimates put impacted at almost 50%.

@fphv+1t4HDqn8 agree - its optional,
enlightened employers do still offer it who have had long term employees (ALL did 4 years ago) but no arguments were discussing one that is or would repeat what it does - who knows what plan is?!/ALL is all
over place - except has been a constant restatement of TG TG TG which seems to mean whatever they need it to.

Were over a barrell as employees, seems like
if all this opaque manuevering, which clearly
has an agenda, once again is unshared (for alllllll our talk of transparency) with those it will impact - why go gently to that unemployment line?

Severance is not required by law and more companies have cut giving out severance at lay offs than still do. A sh-t move by Allsnake but nothing out of the norm in corporate America today.

If this move to move employees to another leasing company is part of a plan to get out of severance? Id recommend we consider class action suit or organization. Organization yes joke at this point but media might like it and Amazon just joined a national org.

BTW Allstate snoops its not only legal to discuss labor issues its ILLEGAL for YOU HR “security” and mgt stooges to monitor them (please reread the NLRA and other laws since company violates them by monitoring for the U word every day at work FYI). Using a vendor still makes you knowingly in violation of US law.

That arb agreement was signed under duress were not contract employees so its cr@p why had NP signing that garbage forced on us in a plague.

All this quiet cutting post Tetris and now what appears be sneaky backroom moves to increase stock price ONCE AGAIN through cutting workstaff vs producing is getting old.

“All that matters is stock price.”. No argument here. He!! lay off 100% workforce it should skyrocket by messed up logic from mgt.

Why is the IT leadership responsible for ASC still in place.
? They make sh-t up and have no clue on how to run IT as a business. ASC has missed all expected outcomes. Kamal , Zulfie, Manish should be fired!

So all of the painful PI planning, reprioritization of the prioritized plans, endless documentation of everything except the eventual product, POs who were under 30yo, inflexible SMs who barely knew what Allstate even does… all gone?

I did not even know that we still had scrum masters and some teams have been pair programming for over 5 years. As for POs they've split that into BAE and BAS roles because they thought it was too much to ask for a PO to need to understand both execution and strategy - I think they should just hire better people but whatever.

Any news about layoffs within the CCO?

Post ID: @9wcw+1t4HDqn8

For technology - there are no scrum masters in Zulfi new model. Nor product owners. There is one DPM - Digital product manager in each team who has their responsbilities under 1 role. Scrum masters started being let go 3rd quarter last year. There arent many left, but those who are scrum masters and havent been told about being transitioned into the new role then what you are hearing about Scrum masters being let go is most likely true.

Peep game.

In a meeting, people throwing out cuts of at least 1/3 across the board. Paired programming may be cover to eliminate 1/2 of all programmers.

Heard through the grapevine SM's are being offboarded across the Enterprise in a move away from Scrum to paired programming. Might mean nothing but this time last year they let go of a load of Scrum Masters....

$2.6B cat losses YTD and $1.2B in just May alone.

The axe is swinging soon and will be unmerciful and cover a wide path.

That said...please be me! Get me out of this circus show of a company run by clowns.

With the full merger of NatGen and Allstate mass layoffs are to be expected. A lot of redundancies now. Expect huge number of cuts by end of this year.

@2vam+1t4HDqn8 FYI do research before
posting. Besides other boards here try Glassdoor and Net and networking if you have any experience and a network.

Buffet operates paper thin overhead and knew wisdom of WFH savings years before Covid, seems fairly bright guy to me. Or would you prefer Shapiro and Brandt?

Outsource HR and ATSC to start. Then gut middle fluff. Its all about the stock price right NOT employees I bet it goes up even more.

@2ube+1t4HDqn8 not a concern but im glad someone like you worries about me.

I have ZERO worries of AI replacing what I do, do you? You should be then.

There is a LOT of fluff jobs mid management stand by cut all them and maybe we could compete w Progressive Geico. If you dont have measureable econ impact please get out way.

If your job is simple and repetitive enough to be put in a workflow tool in the first place, that's the perfect kind of work to replace with AI.

I see alot of folks in the comments who have no idea what they are talking about. Allstate has a ton of dead weight. PERIOD. In all departments, even ATSC, Infosec, etc, they NEED cuts. Even exec leadership could use some cuts. Too many people logging in for 1 hour and then going to spend the rest of the day at the mall shopping. But will these cuts happen? No! They will layoff all the good people and keep the people who are popular. The usual yearly popularity contest!!!!! Enjoy!!!!

You're all missing the point. The October layoffs will be softened for the leadership team because they'll be able to take on of the corporate jets to a Big12 game and enjoy it from a luxurious private suite. It'll turn out just fine, for them.

Since they’re having massive layoffs, is that the reason why they have disabled their careers section online?
This is the message I get when looking. Cant believe I’ve been trying to get on with Allstate and they’re laying off people. Sorry for anyone going through this!

Sorry for the inconvenience while we upgrade our job site.
Our job site will temporarily be offline from June 17th to June 23rd

agree w @1qqc+1t4HDqn8 and other poster. Dump fluff keep producers.

Customer facing (those who generate measurable actual value: agents, adjusters, and underwriters and company portfolio managers). Ok first line sups for them, then c -suite sure…..

I cant speak others but do know shared opinion that HR is a joke (hides, cant provide answer, zero help with benefits), ATSC is a joke, (too much fluff project managers and units that do nothing but criticize real work done by others or look at .xls sheets and throw out d-mb emails): whatever, sure - cut them all outsource it those who do actual
work will be MORE efficient. Try it ALL!!!!

If Allstate wants to compete with other carriers and Progressive dump all positions that are staff and or can’t measure or explain their measurable economic impact in less 15 seconds.

This would include c-suite but hey……we are a for profit company so cie la vie.

What is a “General Manager” at Allstate? Saw a couple of promotions to this title recently and have no idea what it could even mean

Post ID: @2cwi+1t4HDqn8

Chronic and constant turnover at the VP level drives the departmental booms and busts. New guy has new ideas that TW loves. New guy can’t execute so gets turfed. All the people he hired are orphaned. Rinse and repeat. No one stays more than 2/3 years. Those who do can’t get a job elsewhere.

I have to agree with other commenters in that there is a lot of deadweight being carried @ Allstate - particularly in the tech space. The number of ‘Senior Consultant’ types that couldn’t lace the boots of some entry level grads is astonishing.
