Thread regarding Capital One layoffs

PIP Opt out

For those who opted out, and didn’t find a job within the 60 days. How are you explaining the “why are you looking to leave or why did you leave your last job” question in interviews? Are you calling it a layoff?

I’m outside of the 60 days so I’m concerned about the employment gap but this question trips me up in interviews and my confidence is shot after this whole ordeal.

To the most recent post, I think Post ID: @5pvs+1q1BIkHT, the rude person, is the same one who called somebody else stupid or not bright. Perception that they are above others posting here. There are sick people and there are sick companies. What we have here is an example of both.

Thanks to those who answered without being rude. The general consensus here is to omit and keep it moving. Thank you for also for confirming that they only check dates and title that is super helpful and good to know.

It’s clear to me that the rude comments are from people who have been fired before (or have been in this predicament, understandably so lol). That’s not a norm for everyone. Sorry this post struck a nerve. Please do some meditation today. Hope it helps let out negative energies!

How exactly does one allow a company to impose false PIP’s on them? Genuinely asking here.

So the original poster told a new company they were fired for bad performance and the employer rescinded the offer? This is a textbook case of what not to do. You allowed Capone to do this to you and hard to get any sympathy. You always tell a new employer that you were laid off or lie and tell you're still employed. You messed up big time.

They have neutral employment verification. That means they only list the dates and position you held, nothing else. It should be all automated too.

@2wch+1q1BIkHT I’ve never worked for a company that lies in performance reviews to “fire” people before. Giving out false PIP’s is new to me. I’m not sure how lying about a filler position is better than calling a PIP opt out a layoff. When it’s forced attrition either way. I also never knew you could be compensated when you’re fired for performance reasons. Are people generally offered a severance when they’re fired?? That’s why I feel like it’s a layoff. Let’s not be dense here.

I also really don’t understand why people who aren’t or haven’t been in this position stay on websites like this. Or why people think bc it hasn’t happened to them (yet) they feel the need to put others down. You are literally just a number at companies like this. So count your days.

To the original poster you are not bright. When you get fired you tell companies you're applying to that you were part of a company wide layoff. If they call capone the only thing capone by law can tell them is your title and length of employment, nothing else.

You should start putting a filler job in your resume that you're doing consulting for yourself as a contractor doing xyz. Make it up.

Get smart quickly.

@2jpv+1q1BIkHT that’s what I’m afraid of. I don’t plan on mentioning the PIP but I’m trying to figure out how to spin it. I think I’m going to say lay off to be safe.

Sorry to hear that happened, with the new year is coming up something better will come along for sure.

I just had an offer rescinded because I mentioned I opted out of a pip in some of the paper work. In the future I think I am just going to state that I was let go and not elaborate that I opted out of a pip.

If the job is in IT or something that can be off shored / out sourced, then tell them that your job is being offshored in a few months and therefore you have decided to look for another job. Everyone understands about jobs being offshored and they sympathize with that. If they ask you which country, by default it's India. Since most jobs are going there. You're not lying. It will come true in the near future for many companies and you're smart to start looking for another more secure job.
